My name is Francesca and I am originally from Rome. For the past ten years I have been teaching Italian in London, both privately and at a college level.
I specialize in one to one tuition as well as with couples and small groups.
Whether you are interested in simply learning the basics for a holiday in Italy, need help in preparing for GCSE or AS/A2 exams, would like to improve and update your current knowledge for use in the Italian work market, or simply have a passion for Italian language and culture, I can create an individually tailored course focusing on your own specific learning needs, using a variety of up-to-date learning techniques.
I use the International House method in written and spoken Italian which involves the use of authentic texts, visual, audio and internet resources, also introducing culture, politics and anything else that is of the student’s interest.
This method enables the learners to speak and improve their skills as quickly as possible. Fluency and vocabulary would expand naturally as the course progresses.
My lessons last two hours, normally starting with one hour long conversations (with absolute beginners this hour is spent in role playing, games and repetitions), followed by homework correction, grammar studies and listening to pre-recorded Italian conversations.
I would add that I love my language and enjoy passing this love on to someone else by teaching!
I supply all the materials (except dictionary and notebook) and charge £30 per hour per person (plus travel fee if applicable).
I am willing to travel within West and South-West London.
I am a CLTA (Certificate in Teaching Italian to Adults gained at The International House in Rome) qualified tutor of Italian, with over 10 years` experience teaching Italian to adults of all backgrounds, whether learning individually or as a group. I have therefore developed a good understanding of the problems encountered by students who may be learning a language for the first time, as well as those who may be returning to learning after a long gap, and are therefore not only unused to learning, but may need to somehow fit their studies into the limits imposed by a full time working and family life.
I have also a very good record of achievement for students studying on my courses and undertaking GCSE examinations over the years.
I have a Bachelor degree in Law achieved at University of Rome in Italy.
I also worked in Rome as a journalist for 5 years.
After moving to London in 2003 I began teaching in Adult Education Colleges as well as privately. I currently work as Italian tutor for Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Learning and Skills Service.
