I try not to spoon feed pupils but guide them to the correct answer. I feel that allowing the pupil to get to the solution on their own helps them to really absorb the technique and learn the critical thinking required to succeed in Maths.
Would consider a lower rate for anything below GCSE and again for anything below that.
