My teaching method is fun and tailored to each individual student. The first lesson will always cover what a student is struggling in and what they want to achieve from the classes. I also find what interests and inspires students and then create a method that suits their preferred way of learning. Writing about a topic that a student is passionate about is crucial. From there, we can transfer that passion to improve writing and hit the criteria of the GCSE English Language examinations.
I am a Writer passionate about helping students improve their English Language GCSE Grade. I received an A* in English Language 8 years ago. Since then I have gone on to receive a 1st Class Degree in 'Acting and Creative Practice' at the University of Northampton-modules covered included Academic and Creative writing and TIE (Teaching in Education). I am also open to helping pupils who want to improve their writing skills generally.
If travelling more than 10km, I ask for an additional £5 contribution towards travel.
My cancellation policy states that cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance (except for in unforeseen circumstances). If the cancellation is failed to be made within this window, there will be a charge to the student at 50% of the cost of the lesson.
Personal Profile:
I recently graduated from the University of Northampton with a First-Class BA Hons Degree in ‘Acting and Creative Practice’. Modules covered on the course included Academic writing, Creative/Satirical writing and touring a T.I.E (Teaching in Education) performance and workshop to Year 10-11 students.
I am a confident, friendly, ambitious and hard-working individual. I’m now looking for a job where I can apply my relevant knowledge and experience to help individuals in an educational environment.
Experience:
Teaching:
School in Jaipur (September 2015):
At nineteen years old, I travelled to Jaipur in India alone to teach English and Drama to children in a run-down school with few facilities. It was challenging managing a class of 2-14 year olds with no help and no resources, but an experience I embraced. I succeeded in building the children’s confidence, improving upon their academic ability and their enhancing their communication skills. The children were wonderful.
Chadsgrove School (2013-2014):
As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award, one of my volunteering projects included assisting the After-School Drama Club at Chadsgrove (Special Education School). I thoroughly enjoyed planning exciting exercises and working outside my comfort zone with children who had a wide-spectrum of needs and abilities.
North Bromsgrove High School (September 2012-July 2014):
During my time at the Sixthform at North Bromsgrove High School, I consistently assisted and ran the After-School Drama School. I was able to devise exercises in line with the current curriculum and invent games to encourage fun and participation. Running these classes hugely developed my confidence from a young age and prepared me for University.
Freelance Writer:
I’m hugely passionate about writing, mostly I write for my own enjoyment-stories, poetry. However, I have written material for a company called VWI (Volunteering with India). When I returned from volunteering in Jaipur, I pointed out flaws with the written content on their website and subsequently I was asked to help rewrite sections. I was then paid and the content was published.
During my time at University I wrote numerous academic essays, on a range of topics, all receiving a 1st Class Degree. Additionally, I proof read other students’ essays and dissertations. And finally, I worked in a secondary school educating students at GCSE level.
I also have experience writing advertisement content for a sector of a beauty business I owned in 2015. This included online content, leaflets and promotional material.
Brand Ambassador (Tribe Marketing/Blackjack Promotions) 2014-current:
Roles I have taken on have included representing various brands, hostessing events, being a food sampler, capturing data and leafletting. Brands I have thoroughly enjoyed promoting include Selfridges, The Mailbox, House of Fraser, Adidas, Godiva and Oasis. Working as a Brand Ambassador has provided me with the knowledge and understanding of adhering to a company’s image and ethos.
