I give lessons to primary school students, especially those who are preparing for 11+ exams. I believe the most efficient way of tutoring is covering topics that the child finds difficult to avoid boredom and improve concentration. I identify these topics by working through practice papers and explaining and practicing concepts where relevant.
I have completed year 11 and have achieved grade 9s in all of my GCSE subjects. I have also been awarded a 6th form academic scholarship. I am taking Maths, Biology, Chemistry and German for A-level and hope to study medicine in the future.
English Literature 9
English Language 9
I have also been awarded an academic scholarship for 6th form.
My main interests include sport and music. I am a committed member of both netball and lacrosse teams and regularly participate in and enjoy matches. I enjoy singing and playing the harp. I have done up to grade 4 harp and grade 7 singing, and I also enjoy being in a choir. I do classical Indian dancing outside of school and have achieved up to grade 5 so far. I also have an interest in languages- I speak Hindi at home and hope to improve my German at school as I believe it is an important skill to be able to communicate with people from all over the world.
Volunteer, Care home for elderly residents
I found working in Acacia Lodge care home very rewarding and eye-opening. I assisted in serving tea to the residents, helping with laundry, talking to the residents etc. This was fascinating as I got an insight into the life of carers, a profession that I had had little knowledge about beforehand. Overall this experience has made me more compassionate as a person and understanding of a wider range of careers related to medicine.
Volunteer, Local Library
I chose to volunteer in a library as it is a public service and my interest has always been in working with and assisting the general public. It was a peaceful working environment, though there was always something to do and I was always trying new things. I was lucky enough to volunteer while a reading challenge was happening which I had participated in when I was younger, so it was interesting to see the work that goes behind it and have a role in something that I enjoyed as a child. All the librarians were so friendly, and it was fascinating to be part of a service that I had been using for so many years.
