Each student is different. When teaching one on one, I prefer testing the students knowledge first by a short exercise or test on the topic or if time is limited, a question and answer session. From there I teach my lesson by emphasizing more on those areas the students are not knowledgeable on. Positive reinforcement is also another technic I like to use as opposed to pointing out that my students dont know. Encouraging, rewarding and commenting them on what they know will push them to want to know more. I also prefer writing notes on the board as opposed to handouts. Reason being, as the student writes he or she will be reading what he or she is writing, increasing the number of times he or she comes across the same information making it is for him or her to remember it. I also prefer to start with the easy stuff first the difficult stuff later so as not to frustrate the student at the beginning of the module and make him or her quit due to loss of interest or fear of it being too difficult. I also like giving out research work to be done at home to train my students to not be depended on me for all the answers to their academic questions. Rather to know that they too can be in a position of holding that knowledge through careful research and studying. I also love using visual aids such as illustrations, drawings, projectors as well as images. These leave a lasting impression on the students mind and he or she is likely to remember them and easily remember the information tied to it.
I graduated with a Diploma in Financial Accounting in 2018 after I had completed my matric equivalent in Zimbabwe the year before which I passed with Maths, Biology, Geography, Computer Studies, Shona, English as well as Accounts. I have experience with tutoring as I assist kids in high school within my area for a fee as well as assessing experience as I work part time as a mystery assessor for Google Digital Skills.
