My last job was to make sure American student athletes hit their academic targets. I never had a student fail a course that I was tutoring and if I can get a bunch of muscle-headed "jocks" to pass their exams, I can certainly do the same for you!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I cover a wide range of subjects within the fields of mathematics, biology, physics and general science. I am able to tutor any subjects in these areas up to university first year level.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I Have a BSc in mathematics with physics, a Mres in environmental biology and I am currently finishing my Msc in Ecology. I have also completed a tutor training program with the American College Reading & Learning Association.
- How much do you charge?
£20 per hour for individual or £30 for multiple students at the same time. If I need to travel for a long time to get to you then travel time will count in the per hour rate.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach either at my house or I can come to yours. I live in Fladbury, Worcestershire and I am happy to travel around 20 miles.
- When are you available?
I am available any time, however I have a lot of students so my week can fill up quickly.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
From 13 to first year university level.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I have a Skype account and extensive experience working over Skype.
- What kind of experience do you have?
For the last two years I worked as a professional tutor at Syracuse University in the United States. Previous to this I was a teaching assistant at the same university, teaching biology, ecology, anatomy and physiology.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No, I am working on this but apparently it has to be requested by an employer. I can't request it for myself. My last employer was in the United States and so did not use this system.
- Where and with whom did you train?
American College Reading & Learning Association Tutor training with Syracuse University (my previous employer)
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have a number of regular students at the moment, running the gamut from a 13 year wishing to brush up on his mathematics to a 31 year old trainee nurse who needs some help with anatomy.
