I am a musician who primarily plays and teaches jazz music but am also trained in classical music so can cover any style desired. I focus on learning the instrument and then applying it to all genres.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Double Bass, Bass Guitar and electric guitar but also music theory and composition
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a Bmus (hons) first class degree. From this I have trained in teaching all age groups as well as composition and performance.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30 for an hour or £17 for half an hour and, depending on what works best, we can discuss weather you want to travel to me or me to you where extra travel costs can be sorted out.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from home which is located in the centre of cardiff and have pupils come from the south wales area. I also travel to teach when more convenient but extra charges on travel apply.
- When are you available?
I can work to the pupils schedule and arrange different times and days where appropriate but as of september 2012 I will no longer be available on sundays or mondays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all levels. I have also done a lot of teaching intensively for pupils auditioning for music colleges.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepair students for graded exams and auditions for performance degrees but I am equally happy to teach for practical musicians who don't want qualifications
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a professional and friendly teacher who wants to inspire and pass on the love of music, what ever genre it is!
- What kind of experience do you have?
As a performer I have played all around the world, including a folk/jazz tour of China in 2009, functions in Europe and performing on 'The World' cruise ship playing in Israel, Madagascar and South Africa. I have performed all around the UK's best jazz venues with many top musicians and am part for the band Lacuna which is having its first album released on Babel in September 2012. I have also lead many large workshops teaching improvisation to children and professional classical musicians. I am currently an accompanist at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and a guitar teacher at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire

- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have a number of students preparing for auditions for music colleges (at RWCMD I am part of the audition band) as well as students with a keen music as a hobby.
