About the lesson

I am a french horn player and teacher based in London. Although I am primarily a horn player, I also play and teach the piano (ABRSM Grades 1-8) and some other brass instruments.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach both french & tenor horn, trumpet & cornet, and the piano from beginner level upwards.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

LRSM and DipABRSM Diplomas in Horn Performance
ABRSM - French Horn Grades 1-8 (all with Distinction)
ABRSM - Piano Grades 1-8
ABRSM - Music Theory Grade 8

- How much do you charge?

I charge £20 for half an hour and £30 for an hour. A consultation lesson is just half the cost.

- Where do you teach?

I usually travel to students' houses for lessons across London. However, I also have a teaching space at my East Dulwich flat.

- When are you available?

I am flexible.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages and abilities, from beginners upwards.

Brass Instruments (beginner to advanced)
Piano (beginner to intermediate)
Music Theory (beginner to ABRSM Grade 8)

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I like to work towards ABRSM exams or any other qualifications that a student wishes to aim for.

Perhaps you just want learn for fun with no exams at all - that's fine also.

About Alex

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have a variety of experience teaching brass instruments and piano to many school-age children and adults also. I have led various workshops and outreach projects in London's schools.

I also previously held a residency with my own ensemble at the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Series - which focuses on introducing very young children to music.

(Please read my biography for information about my performance experience)

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Not currently, as it isn't a legal requirement for tutoring. This could easily be organised on request, however.

- Where and with whom did you train?

(Please read my biography for information about my performance experience)
