« Before Amy came along my son did not see himself as a person who could pass maths exams; he tended to panic and flunk them. Six months on, my son passed his 13+... and has elected to carry on with Amy until he starts his new school, because, as he recently explained, 'I actually like maths now Mum'. Amy not only transformed my son's self-image - he now sees himself as a pretty good mathematician - she also got him enjoying, relishing even, the subject. »

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Do you recognise any of these signs in your child? • Your child doesn't want to talk about school. • Your child's grade reports and marked homework start to go missing. • Your child is acting nervously or distractedly around exam time. • Your child starts getting "sick" frequently. • Your child starts behaving badly. Then it is time to seek help. As a private tutor, I offer my learners one-on-one tutoring in a controllable environment, where there is less susceptibility to interference or distraction. Children are often only able to concentrate for 10 minutes before their mind starts wandering onto other things. This is completely normal and almost completely overlooked in the public schooling system. I recognise when children's attention span is wavering so a minute or two spent discussing something else or having a biscuit or a glass of water will reset the clock to an extent and your child will be able to get back on track quickly. Confidence and self-esteem are extremely important factors to learning any subject. The more confident you feel with the subject the more creative your thought processes become which means they you will be able to grasp complicated concepts much more easily. As a specialist tutor in maths, I have a passion for my subjects and this can be infectious for my learners who quickly pick up the interest and fascination for the subject. Sometimes key points have been missed in the syllabus that are now holding the learner back from understanding the more advanced concepts. I will quickly be able to identify areas that need work and bring them up to speed. I focus on specific areas that my learners may be having problems with. If your child is too shy to ask questions in class, this often means that they miss out on key points, but in my sessions they are much more likely to ask questions. I cover a lot of detail in a short time and ensure that my learners get the full hour's lesson. I allow my learners to work at their own pace which enables me to become very familiar with their capacity for learning and the methods that work best when explaining sometimes advanced concepts. Every learner is different this is why I identify and adapt to individual needs and capabilities. Supporting homework is an area of concern for parents, with children asking questions that just can't be answered especially at the end of a long day at work. I can provide the answers your child needs and the tools your child can use to find the answers themselves.

Most of my students stay on with me even after primary. I work with pupils in secondary school. All my students this year have successfully passed their GCSE maths qualifications.

Before Amy came along my son did not see himself as a person who could pass maths exams; he tended to panic and flunk them.

Thank you Amy for supporting my son for this last two years. He has now successfully passed his GCSE maths with and A* grade. Thank you so much.
