Amy - Weston Green - Composition

Methodology

I am a friendly and dedicated teacher, and I'm happy to teach people of all ages and standards. I aim to create the best teaching methods for each individual, inspiring a desire to work hard but also to enjoy making music! Whether pupils wish to work towards goals such as graded exams, or simply to get to know a range of repertoire, I strive to make a marked improvement in both technical and musical aspects of learning the violin.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

Violin, theory and chamber music.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I studied Music at Oxford University, graduating with the top 1st class honours. I studied the violin at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and gained my ABRSM diploma, before continuing my violin tuition privately with Remus Azoitei.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £28/hour or £14/30 mins for violin lessons and chamber music lessons, and £24/hour or £12/30 mins for theory lessons.

- Where do you teach?

I normally teach at home, in East Molesey. (This is 5 minutes walk from Hampton Court train station). However I am willing to travel to nearby areas such as Kingston, Thames Ditton, Esher, Walton, Weybridge, Claygate, Hampton, Sunbury, Teddington, Twickenham, Richmond and Kew. Other areas may also be possible - please contact me to discuss. Travel fees may be applicable for long distances.

- When are you available?

As a freelance musician, my weekly timetable is variable, so I am able to be flexible about when I teach. Please get in touch for details.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach children and adults from beginners to advanced level.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I can prepare students for graded exams or work at the student's own pace, without qualification-orientated goals. Although exams can be a useful aid to learning and motivation, I do not think they are essential.

Experience

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching privately for many years, and have an 100% pass rate at ABRSM graded exams. As a performer, I have a vast experience of solo recitals, concerto performances, chamber music and orchestral concerts, which have have taken me all over Europe, from the Royal Albert Hall to Vienna's Musikverien.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

No, but I can get one upon request.
