I believe lessons should be bespoke and tailored to your learning preferences and/or needs or helping you work out how to best approach learning, so will take the time to scope this prior to planning my lessons and strategy. We will also establish what you want to achieve and decide whether we need to work quickly and focus on mark schemes and exam technique or alowly by applying syllabus content to real life scenarios.
We will also have a conversation to determine your learning type and from this, I will incorporate resources in the right format.
We will also regularly refine our learning approach as you progress, and adapt to manage pace, deadlines, information retention and your confidence!
I am a class of 2019 Biomedical Sciences Honours graduate from Cardiff University, specialising in Anatomy. My degree was based on human cadaveric dissection so I am able to offer insightful lessons on Human Biology as well as, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Genetics & Development and Epidemiology at Degree level.
For GCSE and A-Level students, I can support with Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
Being a native Russian speaker also, I would be able to provide lessons in both Russian and English or a hybrid of the two for accessibility!
During my three years at University I worked as a tutor, mentor and student body representative for the student - staff panel. As a result, I have become well acquainted with understanding what my tutees need in order to meet pedagogical requirements that I have grasped through working closely with professionals. I will help you implement and/or refine learning and exam techniques and also offer a breadth of knowledge that will allow you to go beyond set curriculums, to instil a rewarding dedication and genuine interest in your subject.
I have worked with people of different ages, providing lessons at GCSE level, A-Level as well as Degree level. For students who wanted to excel, we were able to achieve top percentile results and equally, for those who needed a bit of support achieving their potential, we were able to work out how to get there and go beyond this.
I also have over three years worth of experience teaching people with learning difficulties and disabilities and would like to emphasise that I can make my lessons accessible to all!
In addition to supporting students with subject related matters, I have supported students throughout career choices and Dental/Medicine University applications (and UCAT) offering guidance and advice on how to place yourself in the best stance as a candidate. I can also advise on attaining work experience having worked in a Hospital setting and for St. John's Ambulance for four years.
Cancellation and/or changes must be communicated 24 hours prior to the lesson.
Maria tutored me through my A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry. She possesses all the attributes of the perfect tutor - she is kind, compassionate, patient and a good listener, but at the same time she is incredibly knowledgable, and her enthusiasm for teaching and science in general really rubbed off on me. She helped me achieve grades I could only have dreamt of and I am forever in her debt!
Maria tutored my child for 2019 A-level Biology & Chemistry exams and achieved a grade bump from a C to an A! Very clear, very personable and patient and instil confidence as well as knowledge.
