Kristel is one of our best tutors. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!
Having previously worked as a substitute teacher in various subjects for students aged 6-16, I am able to adapt my teaching style to the particular student's and subject's requirements. Personally, I believe that a thorough understanding of grammar and a lot of oral communication practice are perhaps the most essential aspects of language acquisition.
Oral comprehension - German
I graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MA (Hons) German and Russian with a Distinction in Spoken German in 2019 and am now pursuing a career as a professional opera singer, studying at the David Seligman Opera School at the RWCMD in Cardiff. I'm currently working online for a language school in Switzerland where I prepare students for language exams for visa purposes as well as professionals who need to improve their language skills for work reasons.
A native speaker of Danish and of half German origin, I naturally have a more native-sounding accent, which I believe will help make you or your child's German more authentic.
I have experiencing teaching adult learners and children (GSCE and A-Level): My students profiles include:
- those aiming for an A* and Oxbridge studies and need to be challenged more than what their school can offer them
- those who struggle either with the language itself or with other special needs such as concentration issues or dyslexia
- those learning German to better communicate with their German partner
- those preparing for naturalisation tests (German passport)
- Non-native speakers of English, who benefit from my multi-lingualism meaning I better understand the grammar of their native language and so can better explain that of German.
Perfect! Friendly, clear explanation of cases
Perfect! Wonderful teacher. Very responsible a aproachable.

Having worked with Kristel for almost 8 years, I can assure you you won't regret choosing her as a tutor: Not only are her language skills brilliant, but she is also an outgoing and approachable person, always happy to help others and share her knowledge with them. Kristel always spoke very fondly of her time as a substitute teacher at a local school and it is clear to me that she enjoys teaching.
Kristel is a knowledgeable, patient, and affable tutor who on multiple occasions has proof-read my essays, improving both my language skills and the clarity of my writing style. She is a hard-working individual who can express and explain things in a simple yet comprehensive manner while at the same time making the learning experience engaging and fun. The combination of Kristel's academic and practical experience of German (from her year abroad in Vienna) makes her a valuable and very helpful tutor.
Kristel was a top German student at her International Baccalaureate Diploma and since pursued the language at University. She's very passionate about languages and about teaching them and I'm confident she'd be a great tutor for any learner from beginner through very advanced levels. (I've done courses myself in German up to B2/C1 level).
Kristel is a friendly, approachable and extremely hard working tutor, with a passion and dedication for what she does. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor, not just because she does a great job, but because she is great to be around too!
I have had the honor of working with Kristel for several years and have thereby become acquainted with her persistence, patience and passion in everything she does. I hereby give Kristel my warmest recommendations.
