I started off as a Montessori teacher in Saudi Arabia with children from 3 - 7. Later, when my own children were growing up, I worked for many years in learning support at an Essex primary school with children of all levels, in small groups or one-to-one. At this time I also helped run a private French Club in nine different primary schools, after school or in lunch-times. In addition, for about eighteen years I have worked privately as a home tutor in the UK and Abu Dhabi with children of all levels, backgrounds and cultures. For the past two years, I have been living and working in London. It has been very diverse and rewarding. I work with children of all levels and abilities, whether it be problems with dyslexia or working for 7 and 11+. I also have several years' experience teaching English one-to-one with foreign adults in the Middle East and London. A lot of this experience has been with Arabic ladies.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Most of my current students are studying for school entrance and/or 11+ exams. I have a few adults who I teach English as it is their second language and they are based in London. In addition, I have short term students who come to London on holiday/business and undertake short term English improvement.
Angela was always on time, patient and encouraging to our son who had ADHD and dyslexia. We were so pleased with her work, that we asked her to work with our daughter on her reading skills too.
Angela worked for seven years with my daughter who has a moderate learning difficulty. She made the activities fun, yet challenging and my daughter always looked forward to her visits.
For three years, Angela worked with all four of my children while they were at primary school, helping them to improve their English and Maths skills and consolidate the work they did at school. We were very pleased with the progress they made as they are always more motivated with a tutor than with their parents!
