About the lesson
Private tuiton in Cello, Piano and Music Theory. Fun and structured lessons for all ages!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach cello and piano abrsm 1-8 or if a student does not want to do exams I will work with a student to find repertoire suited to them to make learning an enjoyable experience. I also teach music theory up to grade 5.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an HNC in music teaching from Napier University in Edinburgh. I also have completed a foundation course in cello at Trinity College of Music in London and went on to complete a degree in cello at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I also studied piano as a second study. I have distinction Grade 8 ABRSM in both cello and piano. I am currently working towards performance diploma in piano ABRSM.
- How much do you charge?
The first lesson is free thereafter I charge 26 pounds an hour, 20 for 45min or 13 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
I currently teach in Cardiff, the vale and teach from my home in penarth
- When are you available?
I teach evenings during the week and Saturday mornings. If i get too full i may only be able to teach from home. I am able to teach through the school holdays on request.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
The youngest I would recommend is age 4. There is no age restriction after that you are never too old to learn!!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my students for ABRSM exams 1-8 and have had 100% pass success.

- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately for ten years. I have taught group classes for East Lothian Council in Scotland. I also worked as a orchestral tutor for a schools orchestra in East Lothian. I currently have students in Cardiff and in penarth and can also teach from home in penarth. I have so far had a 100% exam pass success for the ABRSM. I also work as a temporary classroom assistant so have experience with children of all ages. However, I welcome all ages and have experince teaching adults too!

- Where and with whom did you train?
I did my degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I have trained with Raymond Dodd (retired professor of music at Aberdeen university) Niaomi Butterworth (TCM), Nickie Thomas both former students of William Pleeth (Jacquline du pre's teacher). At RWCMD i trained with Peter Esswood (head of strings), Penny Driver and Nick Gethin. I have also had lessons and masterclasses from a varity of visiting professors.
