About the lesson
I've been teaching French for over 20 years during which time my students have mostly obtained A or A* for their GCSE, AS and A Level exams, as my testimonials show.
Hard copies of recommendations are available.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French from GCSE all the way up to Degree Level. I specialize in the teaching of French Grammar.
I enjoy teaching face to face as well as on Skype.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
After living in Paris for 20 years where I worked in Advertising, I returned to London to do a B.A (Hons) course in Film and Video. I am bilingual as my parents moved to London when I was 4 years old. I started to teach French as a private tutor in the evenings to support myself through the Film Course at the London College of Printing and found that I enjoyed teaching.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour for GCSE and £35 for AS & A Levels and Degree Level. I will charge £30 for last minute cramming.
The price is less per hour if I see a student for more than an hour a week. 2 hours at GCSE Level = £20 per hour. 2 hours AS, A and degree Levels = £30 per hour.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Sandwich which is accessible to students living in Ash, Wingham, Eastry, Deal, Walmer and Dover.
I also enjoy reaching on Skype.
- When are you available?
I'm available from 9 am to 8 pm Mondays to Fridays and from 10 am to 12 am on Saturday mornings.
I'm also available throughout the school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach children from 14 to 17 years for their French exams and adults from intermediary to advanced levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I teach children for GCSE, AS and A Levels French.
I teach adults at University Level.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Students need to make a preliminary booking for the time they wish their online lesson to be at as well as the duration. I'm also available on Skype.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
It's essential for pupils to know their tenses and their grammar so as to be capable of standing on their own two feet without having to resort to learning a text by heart for their oral exam or having to wade in murky waters for their written test.
For those adults who are not taking exams but simply wish to improve their conversational skills, I believe that they need to show a true interest for the culture they're venturing in. Curiosity and perseverance combined with hard regular work are key to a positive outcome.

I owe Anne Viguié a great deal. My son was struggling with his French scholarship at Westminster School.
In a couple of months, I am delighted to say that Anne helped him reach 'A star' standard in his exams and achieve a full scholarship.I came to Anne panicking about an up coming Open University exam. She helped me relearn the basics and has taught me more in a couple of months than my previous Open University lessons and books. She has helped me tremendously.
I am very glad to have found Anne when my daughter needed urgent help with GCSE French. She helped her grasp some of the hardest aspects of French grammar and went over the lesson time almost every lesson, ensuring that my daughter fully understood the topic. Anne is extremely punctual and well organised, but most importantly dedicated. Anne is worth every pound, because the work she puts into her students is absolutely incredible.
My husband and I have had French lessons from Anne and have found her to be a very good teacher, both from the French conversation point of view and from the written work which is very structured and helped enormously with grammar and form of the language. We both visit France a great deal and have benefitted from her teaching.
In preparation for our relocation to Brussels, I have taken approximately 40 lessons within a period of three months from Anne Viguié. I am pleased to say I really enjoyed the classes. They were well planned and consisted of a mixture of grammar, reading and conversation, and definitely helped reviving and improving the basic knowledge of French that I had from school.
I am happy to recommend Anne to anyone.Anne Viguié has taught me French for the last two and a half years. Shes is fluent in both French & English and her lessons are well planned and combine a good mixture of conversation and more formal work. From a very rusty GCSE standard, my French has signifantly improved and I can now have a conversation with much greater confidence. Learning French with Anne is an enjoyable experience which I wholly recommend.
Mrs Viguié's positive and structured approach to improve, stimulate and motivate my daughter Kimberley's interest in French has resulted in an encouraging end of year A grade examination result. With Mrs Viguié's excellent guidance and support, Kimberley's negative approach to this subject is slowly diminishing. Her well prepared lessons, high expectation, consistent homework plan and clarity in explanations have all contributed to the high standards of achievement attained in such a short time
Thank you very much Anne,
Bach has got A in French for last summer's exam; is it ok ?I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Anne Viguié to you. She is an extremely professional and competent teacher who has shown incredible patience and encouragement over the many years I have known her.
I have no hesitation in recommending Anne Viguié's French tuition.
Her tutorials are carefully tailored to the pupils' ability with a mixture of conversation and course work, which is well arranged and presented and accompanied by suitable course material.View more recommendations
