*Anthropology* graduate providing excellent tuition for relevant subjects- patient and creative approach

Methodology

I am a recent BA Social Anthropology graduate from SOAS university. My A-Levels were English, Philosophy and History of Art. I am offering tuition in all these subjects up to A-level including similar subjects such as history or psychology at GCSE level.

It is important to get along well with a student so that they are willing to engage and learn. This helps me to devise ways in which you learn best; not everyone has the same learning/revision style. I want to channel your strengths and creativity into subjects that you wish to improve or struggle with. Personally, I prefer using colour and analogy but I am open to other techniques, including repetition and circulating approaches. I am very patient, having worked with children with very poor concentration levels; but I am also firm. I expect my students to want to improve and that will require some hard work. I hope to see you in the classroom soon!

Background

Throughout my university years I tutored several students under the ages of 13. As my CV outlines, consistently tutored a girl from year 6 and finished working with her in year 9. This was a lovely experience for me as a I witnessed her confidence grow; her academic performance improve and I left her with the tools to apply herself in the future. Her parents would jokingly congratulate me when they got back from her parents evenings! I have just graduated, so my experience with those older than 13 is not extensive but I am very keen to begin a new student/tutor relationship.

Employment/work History (References upon request)

2013-2017- Part-time Nanny and Tutor.

Throughout my University years I picked up a girl from school and tutored her in all subjects from the age of 10-13. I enjoyed witnessing her academic milestones and helped her pursue creative interests whilst keeping on top of those subjects she struggled with.

2015-16 Part-time tutor.

I would occasionally tutor two girls, age 11 and 13 in all subjects for one year. They were sisters but they they couldn't have been more different. The youngest vigorously applied herself but would really beat herself up if she struggled with something. I worked with her to try and manage her anxieties so she could enjoy her studies more. The eldest found it very difficult to engage with her studies and I explored ways to engage her, using pop culture and other means to try and change her perception of work as a chore. We made great progress and it was an interesting and challenging experience as a tutor.

I have known Gabby during the years which she was tutoring a young girl named Dolly. She took her responsibilities as a tutor seriously but was also able to form a strong relationship with Dolly which helped to create an excellent learning environment.

She has the knowledge & patience to work with children of all levels of requirement.
