The combination of my patience and knowledge for the subject has taught me how to pass my knowledge onto peers. I will teach people to bring out themselves in their work, rather then pushing my style of work onto them. I have a broad knowledge of artists, styles and techniques that I wish to pass onto my tutees depending on their passions and work they wish to create and areas in which they want to learn, as well as trying to push them to try new things.
I am taking a year out from Manchester school of Art studying fine art. At school I took two art a-levels, 2D art in which I achieved A grade and 3D art where I achieved A* grade. Since then I have achieved a distinction in my art and design foundation diploma and have completed the first year of degree.

I have deferred the second year of my Fine Art degree at Manchester School of Art to explore career options and I am hoping to find opportunities in creative and fashion businesses, but am also looking for part time work. Alongside my studies I run a successful online vintage clothing shop, which I have been building for the past two years.
My career focus is on the commercial aspects of fashion and creative industries, where I can combine my interests in art, design, fashion and business.
The principal platform for my clothing business is Depop, where I now have over ten thousand followers, and I also co-run a small clothing market, predominantly selling to students. Running my own business has given me invaluable experience of sourcing and buying, including understanding my customers, promoting products, fulfillment and the financial aspects of retail as well as extensive experience of managing commercial, retail interactions with customers both in person and on-line.

January 2017-Present Depop
For almost two years I have been developing my own online shop through the app Depop. I sell vintage clothes to a following of over 10,000 customers – and through this, I have gained experience in dealing with challenging situations and balancing the need to please customers with the requirement to remain profitable. Learning how to deal with these challenges has helped me to build goodwill and expand my customer base.
October 2017-Present Fallow Garms – Clothing market
I co-run a small clothing market in Manchester predominantly selling to students. The market runs weekly or monthly depending on the time of year. Both this and my Depop shop have allowed me to learn how to run a business and how to spot upcoming trends and make suggestions to my customers based on their tastes and preferences rather than purely my own. [Running the market, as well as my own stall, has given me some slightly broader commercial/retail management experience.]
December 2016 Sophie Conran – Homeware company
I gained a range of skills whilst working as an intern for Sophie Conran. Learning how to communicate with clients and colleagues with confidence was a major aspect of this, as well as learning the ropes of running a business and getting to experience the design side of a company.
August/ September 2016 Cope and Vale – Leather design studio
Cope and Vale is a small studio producing samples and small-scale production runs for London-based accessory designers. I spent a month doing an internship working alongside them and learning design and production skills and techniques.
January 2016 Selina Cheong Studio 168 – Leather design studio
Looking to find out more about different creative industries, I did a week’s work experience with Selina Cheong in her design/production studio learning how to make bags and other leather accessories.
November - February 2015 Young Enterprise
A group of school friends and I entered Young Enterprise, with the idea of ‘Choons’ – a chopstick/spoon to make eating with chopsticks that bit easier. I took the role of Deputy Manager and Head of Design. As well as helping to organize the group and running fundraisers, I designed the product and made prototypes. Unfortunately, we did not get far enough in the competition to see the product come to life, but we all learnt some valuable life-skills.
I spent a week working in a PR office to try to gain some general business experience. This mainly involved running errands and basic computer work.
Spring 2014 Eddie Stobart – Graphic design
I gained a few days’ work experience with the graphic designer for Eddie Stobart, working on merchandising and promotion and learning some basic skills.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
Running my business takes up much of my time but when I am not doing that or studying I enjoy:
Travelling I have travelled independently and with friends in South East Asia
Art Whenever possible, I visit art galleries and exhibitions.
Sport I have always enjoyed sport - participating in all school sports including tennis and running and captaining the 3XI hockey team in my last year of school.
Theatre At school I have had enjoyed supporting the drama department, - helping with makeup for many school plays and getting involved with set design and making props.
Fashion Over the past few years, especially through running a fashion-based business, I have developed a strong interest in fashion. Alongside the business aspects I have begun to design and make my own garments.
