I offer teaching in the three following areas:
- Technical help in sculptural methods and techniques, including practical workshops.
- Tutorials for developing concept and ideas, and critical feedback.
- Portfolio, interview and exam preparation for GCSE, A Level, Foundation and University students.
I am an enthusiastic and friendly person and am keen to help my students to develop their skills, confidence and motivation. I understand how challenging the artistic process can be at times and I have always felt a good tutorial can make such a difference to the direction of your practice. I can help you find contemporary and art historical references as well as help you experiment with new materials, recommend artists and exhibitions, and help solidify ideas you’d like to investigate. I also offer technical help on photography and Photoshop, can give you advice on materials and the best places to order them, and I can lead one-off or rolling workshops on a particular practical technique you would like to master.
I graduated with an MFA in Fine Art Sculpture from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2019, and I have a First Class BA in Fine Art from Newcastle University, having completed a Foundation Diploma prior to that. I have several years’ experience as a professional Sculpture Fabricator for major UK and international artists, and am extensively familiar with sculptural and fine art techniques. I have taught sculpture classes and workshops from A-Level age to retirement age students, including at the Slade Summer School, as well as UK sixth forms, which led to some ambitious and promising work for Foundation portfolios. I currently work in the Exhibitions department at the Royal Academy of Arts. I am primarily a freelance artist, living and working in London, and continue to exhibit work nationally and internationally in major institutions.
