EXPERIENCE

Engineer Assistant| Hayward Tyler

September 2017

As part of my high school work experience in order to widen my horizons, I sampled into the field of abirami engineering. I assisted engineers that were constructing industrial hydraulic pumps as well as other intricate components. It was an engaging and enjoyable experience and I learned a great deal. I used skills such as time management by arriving on time and responsibility when addressed with tasks.

Admin/Shop Floor Assistant| Kashar Carpets

January 2018 – December 2018

At the start of 2018, I began my first paid job at Kashar Carpets in Bedford. I interacted and served customers who had come to buy or sample products. Additional to this I took phone calls, collected orders and built the companies online portfolio via social media.

Youth/Charity Volunteer | Organisation of Culture and Character

January 2016 – Present

In my spare time, I regularly volunteer and support my local youth organisation which also carries out charitable events to better the community. It brings me great pleasure in supporting projects and movements to aid excellent causes. In the past, I have organised and lead summer camps with activities for children aged 5-16. The most recent event was to distribute care packages to the homeless in order to relieve some of the struggles over the winter period. In the summer of 2019I plan to complete a sponsored climb of Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise money for the organisation. During events, I meet many new people from the community whom I keep ties with today. One of the main skills I take from organising activities is how to handle new situations under pressure. Dealing with people of my age in a mature way is something that I enjoy as it makes me more confident.

SKILLS

Advanced cognitive problem solving and numeracy skills

High tolerance during high-pressure situations

Good self-management / organisational skills and punctuality

Positive and tenacious attitude

Fluently speak both English and Urdu and the basic understanding of Spanish

Highly adaptable to unique situations

Competent in using computing resources and technology

INTERESTS

Additional to being academically proactive, I enjoy partaking in competitive sporting events and physical activities. I regularly play football as part of a Sunday league team and intend to trial for county cricket in the summer. From such sporting events, I learn how to operate in a cohesive team unit and often play the role of captain or team leader due to my social and vocal abilities.

I have also completed the Duke of Edinburgh Award where I was required to follow a map using a compass in order to traverse the countryside as part of a group. Then later set up camp and cook a meal for the camp. This allowed me to demonstrate maturity and composure as this was an extremely taxing task.

One of my prime achievements was to launch an app dedicated to help improve the lives of young careers as part of the Apps for Good program. I entered the competition as part of a team, from this we won serval awards and accolades as well as receiving national recognition for our idea. This was then pursued and turned into a professional app which is now available to download in the Google Play Store.

I am extremely proud of receiving an elite scholarship in a high achieving private college – Berkhamsted Sixth. Over the next two years, I aim to continue my studies as well as getting more experience which, I understand is desirable for universities and essential in the workforce
