I have a degree in Maths with statistics and finance and understand that maths can be boring. Although the only way to become good at it is by being persistent with practising questions. Also the foundations need to be put in place to understand the key concepts. This needs to be broken down and explained in a simple way with diagrams and examples. Once i've made sure the student understands the topic I will test them with questions and see if there are any holes in their knowledge that we can fill.
I have been tutor for 10+ years from age 8-16 years. I have helped students move up 2-3 maths sets higher, achieve 3-4 grades higher in their GCSE than their predicted/current performance grade and generally helped build student's confidence and understanding.
