A Levels: English (A); History (A); Economics (A)
GCSEs: 5A*s & 4As
- How much do you charge?
My charge is £40 p/h.
The first hour/session is free and will be a meeting to introduce myself, understand your requirements, meet you child and understand the key learning objectives as well as the schools you are targeting. I can then explain a bit more about my teaching style and you can then decide whether you wish to proceed.
The first few sessions can be paid individually to make sure it is all working out as planned.
- Where do you teach?
I can travel to the student's home as long as you are not too far, and I also teach at my house.
I am available to teach in areas around Pinner, Northwood, Ruislip, Harrow, Wembley, Watford and Bushey.
- When are you available?
Generally I teach on the weekends, though can also be available some evenings. I can do more intensive sessions during school holidays, half-terms etc.

Ages 7-11 primarily, but also up to 13yo for the 13+ entrance exams.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
11+ and 13+ exams.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can answer queries via email and also tutor through Skype if needed to (e.g. during long vacations when you are abroad).
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I specialise in tutoring for the 11+ and 13+ only for both Grammar and Independent schools. I work in the city and therefore only take on a limited number of students.
I focus on the Grammar schools in North London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire such as Watford Grammar, Paramiter`s, Bushey Meads, Queens` School and others in the SW Hert`s Consortium, Henrietta Barnet, Queen Elizabeth`s, Latymer, Mill Hill County and Dr. Challoners.
I also cover Independent schools in this region including St. Helen`s, Northwood College, Haberdasher`s Aske`s, Belmont School, Mill Hill, Merchant Taylor`s, John Lyon, Latymer Upper School, Royal Masonic and St. Margaret`s.
I cover both GL and CEM style assessments, depending on the schools you will be applying to.
I have myself been through the 11+ exams and was awarded places at a number of Independent schools including John Lyon (scholarship), Belmont, Latymer Upper, Haberdashers Aske`s (scholarship) and Merchant Taylors. So I know from personal experience the standards needed and the work that needs to be done.
I would usually have an initial 1 hour meeting with the parents (and child) at no cost, to explain my teaching style and what would be expected as well as to understand what you require and your child`s strengths and development areas. This can also help you decide if you wish to go ahead. If you wish to proceed, I am happy to charge on a per-session basis for the first few lessons until you are sure you want to continue. After this I generally ask for at least 1 month payment in advance. I am flexible with my cancellation policies as my aim is to set up a positive working relationship.
I cover all the key areas - Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Creative Writing and interview practice from building up foundation level competencies right through to scholarship level. Hence I can tailor the sessions based on whether your child is in Year 5 and hence cover the main exam preparation, or needs some additional foundation work in Maths and English during Years 3 &4, or is going into Year 6 and needs help with last minute preparation. My style is friendly and relaxed but I have high expectations and will encourage your child to work hard but enjoy the learning process at the same time. I am happy to travel to you if you are based nearby otherwise accommodate in my house.
I have two young daughters, one of whom I tutor in the KS2 competencies, and will be tutoring them for the 11+ when they are older.
I have A* and A`s at GCSE and A Level and a 2:1 in Economics and Philosophy from The University of Nottingham. I have also studied for an MSc. in Computing at Imperial College.
Please feel free to message or call me and ask as many questions as you have.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have previous experience in working with children at KS2 level to improve their reading and maths skills, as well as mentoring older children through the exams and the career selection process. I also have experience of helping a range of people through verbal and non-verbal reasoning exams, particularly for graduate level jobs.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a full recent DBS certificate, which I will bring with me to our first meeting.
