I'm Fashion Designer with a bespoke bridal & evening wear company and a ready to wear brand with over 5 years of experiences in fashion industry. I have worked for several company and names such as , Grade House , Sample Studios , Ream Juan , Rima Tadmory , Ls Manufacturing , I Digit and Birmingham City University as a I Digit tutor.
I have a costume design back ground with a pattern cutting & sewing skills. In my classes we can also cover different areas such as fashion illustrations, sketchbook designs portfolio layouts and much more.
My rates may vary according to the nature of class and a deposit will be required which may not be refundable but can be transferred to a different date if needed.
I started TANIA KSHAH a bespoke bridal and evening wear brand in 2017. The aim is to create high quality luxury made to measure wedding dresses along with evening wear. My brand focus is a one off garment made especially for my client; this requires me to work closely with them and my team. It is part of my job to have consultations with the clients to insure we are creating the garments to the highest quality, it is my brands job to source the fabric and trims, to do fitting and to create the final look in house. I would develop and manage students who I employee as interns by on the job training and teaching, along with machinist to ensure we all work on the same level of quality. It is very important that my team can communicate clearly with each other at all times.
I worked for a company based in Wolverhampton called LS Manufacturing as a CAD technician. My job role required me to work closely with the ASSYST software where I could digitize, correct and grade on the CAD system along with creating lay plans and markers with the best ratings. Getting the best rating and efficiently when creating markers which determents how much fabric will be needed without any wastage. I was also required to create patterns from existing samples which could then be used to create new garments. Sometimes we were sent in clients existing patterns or we had to use old styles and create new patterns on the system. Once all patterns were corrected I had to grade them to the sizes required by our clients ready for mass production.
After graduating from university I started up my first brand called Safeeras. This is a modest wear brand that caters to women who require fashionable clothing that can be worn easily within religious views. I created this brand to give something back to the community, by ensuring 10% of profit from sales are put into different charities. Safeeras is a brand that’ll also helps women with difficulties with education and employment; I have helped and supported women to gain a job as machinist or cutter through my teaching and training skills, along with English grammar skills. My aim for this brand is to be able to help more people with getting qualification and language skills for a better and brighter future. This brand also helps and supports other businesses through collaborations by creating portfolios of their work as I like to create opportunities for new and upcoming makeup artist, photographers, stylists and models.
I worked for Rima Tadmory who is a bridal wear designer. While working with Rima Tadmory I was part of a team who helped create the final collection for Fashion Week 2016. We helped design, create and hand-sew embellishments on to the collection. Due to previous experiences, I took on the task to recruit and organise models and also support with the fittings. Once the collection was ready we then helped Rima Tadmory with getting the models ready for the show and taught them how to walk onto the catwalk ready for the show. This gave me a better understanding of how much work goes into a collection ready for the catwalk. Working for Rima Tadmory showed me how well I work with a team.
Birmingham City University
I was employed at BCU to teach and train 3rd-year students and tutors the IDIGIT software. The training was to help and support them with transferring and correcting their patterns on IDIGIT. This training helped students gain more skills and opportunities for future jobs. Working at BCU has helped me gain the skills needed to communicate with a large group of people with confidence and building on my teaching and training skills.
I started working for an eveningwear designer called Reem Juan in 2015 just before Paris Fashion Week. It was my job to help create all the final collection hand-sew details and make sure all designs were achieved to a high standard. Working closely with Reem Juan helped me understand how designers create the complete collection in a short time along with how to communicate with a large team under pressure. It was also my job to have all the garments ready to be shipped for Paris Fashion Week. This helped me achieve high expectation whilst working under extreme pressure, dealing with issues such as the pattern cutting/making, garment fit and change of embellishment ideas, which built my problem-solving skills.
In 2015 I worked closely with Sample studios which is a company based in London where I was required to sit in meetings with clients and get a better idea of what they require from their designs, I answered phone calls with confidence and talking to new customers and booking them in for meetings. I was also told to do fabric buying and created toile’s and samples for clients. I have learnt how to cut different fabrics and how to get most of the fabrics without wasting any area, I can now create patterns from existing garments and alter garments. I have developed a better understanding of the different seam finishes and what works best for each garment. I also had to deal with unhappy clients and solve their problems, I also had to make sure that all the fabric was stocked up and the correct items were being used to make high-quality samples. It was also part of my job role to talk to & teach machinist how to speak English & learn the correct the terminology needed for their job role. This was to insure that both the company and employees were able to communicate at all times.
I DIGIT Software Development team & Trainer
I have worked closely with the I Digit software where I was required to use the software and point out any improvements that could help users. I Digit is a form of photo digitizing where you put you patterns on a board with magnets and take a picture which is then corrected on the I Digit software, you then take it in to the Gerber software to add any extra information. My job was to give new buyers and users the training required for using the system. This gave me the opportunity to meet designer’s current labels and network with people within the industry.
In 2014 I have worked in a London based company called Grade House where I had to digitise clients existing pattern and correct them on pattern design software which would then be graded to the sizes required and plotted accordingly. It was also my job to create patterns for exiting designs. I also had to train new interns or new employees on how to use the digitizing board, the photo digitizer, Gerber, paper plotter and card plotter. It was also part of my job to talk to clients from all around the world and give them a better understanding of what we can do for them & also what they require from us, also making sure all shipments went out on time and were received in time for us to work on them.
