I prefer online methodologies as one can access the mark schemes, past papers, videos, online assessments, and we can both write on the text box whilst chatting on video. I have taught students the whole course in 9 months and some have achieved A*. Needless to say, one needs to be well motivated in order to achieve that sort of success but it can be done. Getting formal written work to me is also important because my feedback using Word Comment will improve your grades very quickly. So my approach is a combination of engaging tutorials, writing in the text box and submitting examination paper answer to me on Word docs.
One of our best tutors! High-quality profile, qualifications verified and response guaranteed. Julian will plan your first lesson with care.
I have been successfully teaching Sociology at A level and University levels for over 23 years. I regularly write for the A level publication Sociology Review and you will find my contributions technically accurate, informative and accessible. I tend to teach online as I find this is far more effective than shuffling bits of paper about at home. I have three university degrees, including a Doctorate and a PGCE. I live in Crewe with my 10 year-old boy and he keeps me well grounded.
I do not offer ad hoc lessons but only take on those who are willing and able to purchase a block of 5 or 10 hours. Dealing with payments every lesson takes up valuable time and there needs to be time on the student log for feedback, marking, using Word Comment which is where I really add value. This has proved popular and this model has been used for all my teaching since 2009.
Excellent! Julian is a competent and knowledgeable social science tutor. He was very flexible in his availability, adapted our sessions to my needs, and helped me work through specific topics. Besides guiding me through some complex social theory he helped build my confidence, which turned out to be crucial.
Glyn is a motivated and diligent post-graduate student who is receptive to advice and who is also a very independent researcher. I enjoyed working with Glyn and hope to again if he ever needs my services.
The sessions have helped my learning greatly, the one on one nature of them means I get a deeper understanding of the subject area and any queries I have about it can be directly answered and explained
The nature of the tutoring is also excellent; being tailored to the way I personally learn best to make sure I get optimum learning from them, I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to enhance their learning as they have been an invaluable aid to my exam preparation.
I find these lessons really useful! Writing out essays after having read through lots of material and having someone to critically go through your essay as well as adding essay plans etc is really invaluable when it comes to learning things for the exams. I also wouldn't have been able to do it alone, and definitely required help from a tutor to help me progress
I studied A level sociology on a part-time basis, and found the help I received to be invaluable. My tutor was insightful, very approachable and dedicated to helping me achieve my goals. I was particularly surprised by the depth at which we were able to cover the syllabus online. From my experience, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Marbury education
I hadn't used online tutoring before and was unsure as to whether I would like it. After a few weeks I began to enjoy the subject as Julian's enthusiasm and love of Sociology rubbed off on me. Julian was very flexible and managed to fit in extra slots when required, he was excellent at marking my work and giving me constructive criticism which helped to raise the standard of my written work. I achieved high A's in both A2 units all thanks to him.
Julian provided excellent long distance training which helped my daughter achieve an 'A' grade in Sociology and be accepted to her first choice University. I would strongly recommend him to anyone sitting 'A' level Sociology.
Overall, my son went from being a low E grade student to a high D in his A Level overall (very nearly a C). Bearing in mind that my son's AS results (two Es) were already a fait accompli when Julian took him on, and that A2s are generally harder than AS, this was a great outcome and provided enough extra UCAS to get him into his 1st choice Universirt. I cannot recommend Julian highly enough as a tutor, you will not be disappointed.
I'm leaving feedback from a parent's perspective. Coming to online tuition for the first time I had my concerns, however I can say that Julian provides absolutely first class tutoring. He is proactive, well organized, and lesson content is backed up by extensive teaching materials for the student. Work is set and returned promptly with detailed indication of where and how to improve. He manages to easily establish a relationship with the student that is both encouraging but accountable.
Julian responded very quickly to our request for help and seems very on the ball about what is required. Michael has had four sessions so far and is very enthusiastic about the content of the sessions and the work that has been set.
We've been really pleased with the help that Julian has given our daughter so far. He's helped her engage with the subject in way that she hadn't been able to before. Julian is reliable and conscientious and we highly recommend him as a Sociology tutor.
