I like to treat each student as an individual so I dislike only teaching what is prescribed on a certain exam syllabus. I like to teach a wider range of repertoire alongside technical material to widen their cello knowledge.
I have been teaching alongside my professional playing engagements and have gained experience teaching all ages and levels. I have taught in some schools as well as privately and I am currently the cello teacher at Trinity School, Shirley and at their relatively new Saturday Music Academy.
30 minutes is usually long enough for beginners but longer lessons are advised for higher levels. If beginners have no previous musical experience I may have to advise some basic study of theory alongside the cello.
I started my cello lessons in Bexley and continued at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama successfully completing a 4-year diploma course in performance and teaching. I have played with all types of orchestras covering symphonic and chamber repertoire. I have played regularly for ballet and opera and played in several West End Musicals and also on studio albums for bands and singers of international renown. I have been invited for the last few years to teach individual lessons in "Le Altre Note" festival and masterclass music course and taken part in recitals there. I speak Italian fluently.

Ann does expect you to give your all, and when you deliver she makes you feel great about trying so hard, but most importantly you feel good about what you can achieve. Ann is an incredibly talented musician and a very patient teacher. I really like her teaching methods that suit my learning pace and friendly approach that motives me to get better and better as an adult beginner. I would recommend Ann without hesitation to anyone seeking cello lessons!
Ann is a fantastic cello teacher that I've had for almost up to 10 years. Having gone to her only at Grade 1 level recommended by a different teacher, I have now reached diploma level cello all thanks to her detailed and precise teaching style. I fully recommend her as a teacher, as she plays close attention to all aspects of musicianship; allowing me to become a far more independent cello player. With a holistic view of technique and expression, Ann has certainly helped me become a better cello player. She is the best cello teacher I could ever ask for!
Ann is an excellent teacher who made a huge improvement to my daughter’s cello playing. Ann was always enthusiastic and positive My daughter is still playing and enjoying her cello.
Ann has taught me for over 11 years and my enthusiasm for the cello has only increased. She is a fantastic teacher who is very patient and encouraging. She knows how to get the very best out of all her students. I highly recommend her. Anyone can succeed with Ann as a teacher!
Ann has taught my children for nearly up to ten years, my son now at diploma and my daughter at grade 8. Under her wonderful instruction, my children have never stopped being enthusiastic and motivated towards learning the cello. I highly recommend her because of her structured and organised approach towards teaching, and meticulous attention to detail in technique and playing style. She has nurtured both my children to become highly independent players capable of tackling any repertoire of their choosing.
Ann is a wonderful teacher with patience and talent always in plentiful supply. As one of her adult learners I always feel challenged to stretch myself yet without feeling judged when I don’t come up to scratch. I can highly recommend her teaching to any hopeful student.
Ann has taken my daughter from 0 to grade 8+ in a very short period of time. Not only bouncing through the grades but exposing her to other forms of music jazz, classical and contemporary to name but a few and developing her as a musician from soloist to full orchestral team player. We are forever indebted, Kind regards Mattie
