My teaching method is covering an overview of the subject while trying to encourage critical thinking on the topic. This will be done by frequently testing their knowledge and asking questions further than just a yes or no answer. I will also try and consolidate and test their knowledge through games, as I personally find the best way to learn something is to get it wrong first and realize your mistakes. For biology i also feel it is important to drill a lot of particular points to ensure they students retain them quickly. This is particularly important for biology as it requires a lot of memory and it is essential to understand the basics before moving onto more complex topics. I also believe in making the work fun and interactive, rather than just reciting from a textbook, as I feel this is also a important component of remembering key points.
I am a Biology graduate who has taken a wide variety of modules from Genome stability, genetic disease and cancer to biogeography of tropical rainforests. I have taken part in multiple field trips to portugal and Zimbabwe and also volunteered as a marine conservationist in Thailand. I am excited to teach and inspire younger generations to love such a fulfilling and interesting subject.
