I really put an emphasis on the real world application of science and maths and the importance of understanding not just memorising in my tutoring. I find this approach can increase enthusiasm as well as knowledge for the subject.
I understand every student is different and will be guided by the student to find the most effective way for them to learn. My sessions, while flexible, generally involve focusing and explaining a few topics, then working through practice questions. This enables the student to ask plenty of questions to get the most out of their tutoring session, as well as practise exam technique.
Hi I'm Jodie! I am a postgraduate researcher at the University of Nottingham studying Plant Science. I love all things science related and sharing that with others.
I have Biology degree from the University of Bath, which is ranked the 6th best university in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2020. I also have A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, an AS in Further Maths and 16 GCSE's including Maths and English, 13 at A/A* Grade.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Among other things, I have demonstrated practical skills to Biology undergraduates and frequency worked at science festivals across the country to explain my research to the wider public. This has developed my ability to explain things multiple times from different angles.
I have a pending DBS check to work with children.
