I am a first year Biology undergraduate and so mostly comfortable tutoring at GCSE level. Having sat A Levels just last summer and obtaining three A*s, I am very familiar with the examination system and would focus on helping students to understand the most complex topics in a way that will help them reach full potential in an exam, as I am all too familiar with the feeling of knowing a topic well but not being able to apply it in the exam!
In my experience breaking down complex topics into visual diagrams to explain and remember are key- and I aim to help students do this.
Lesson structure would consist of building up an understanding and then using this to apply to answering exam questions.
I also believe it is beneficial to think about concepts in real world applications and would encourage students to do this.
Lastly, I am passionate about optimising learning through methods such as active recall and spaced repetition. I would be more than happy to help students set up an effective study method using these techniques.
I am a super passionate Biology student, I could talk about it for days! I have only completed my first year of undergraduate and thus have not had the opportunity to tutor previously, however I have plenty of experience helping my sister at GCSE level.
I achieved 11 A*s at GCSE and 3 A*s at A Level in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, as well as an A* in a biology focused Extended Project Qualification.
I am happy to tutor Biology and Chemistry at GCSE level as well as AS level. I am most familiar with Edexcel Biology and AQA Chemistry in terms of examinations style however I am very happy to research into other exam boards.
I hope to not only focus on preparing for exams but to impart some of my passion for Biology onto others!
