My lessons are set out so that first I will answer all questions you may have prior to entering the class, then we may revise topics which you are wanting to learn about and finally, together we will answer exam questions, proceeding to study and explore any topics which I feel you may need help with. Importantly, I will make sure to create strong foundations upon which knowledge relating to the subject can be accumulated and furthermore, I hope to teach in such a way that inspires confidence in your abilities.
I'm a final year student studying Biological Sciences at Imperial College London with multiple years of tutoring experience: I have worked at Susan Daughtrey Education, an 11+ tutoring company, for over two years and helped many young children in their 11+ studies during my time there; and I have also taught biology, french, chemistry and maths to students from the ages of 11 to 17 whilst myself studying at secondary school.
Education and Qualifications:
2018-2021: Biological Sciences (Bsc) at Imperial College London
Attended Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe:
A-levels: Biology (A*), Maths (A), French (A)
GCSEs: 10 (A*- A), 1 (B)
February 2017 – August 2018: Assistant tutor at Susan Daughtrey Education (11+ tuition). My duties included the supervision and education of young students, as well as administrative work at the head office. Also, it was required that I communicate with the parents regarding the status of their child’s education, among other things.
July 2019 – August 2019: Kitchen Porter at Jung’s café in Gerrards Cross. In addition to working most predominantly as a kitchen porter, my role also involved assisting the head chef with food preparation, waiting and generally doing whatever was asked of me.
Such flexibility in working to the various demands of my seniors, as well as the need to please and serve many customers also demonstrates my capability to work well under pressure. Similarly, to be able to work in a team setting where you are heavily depended on by others was essential experience that boosted my talent for effectively functioning in any team-based setting. Not to mention, the restaurant milieu required that I acted both politely and professionally with the customers that I served – indicating that this is something which I am very much capable of doing.
March 2020 – July 2020 – Housekeeper at Austenwood care home. This involved cleaning the rooms and bathrooms of residents as well as the communal areas. Moreover, I spent much time with the residents of the care home and came to develop relationships with those living there. Whilst at first a lot of what I encountered during my time at the home was deeply saddening, scary and often distressing, I learnt to see beyond the pain and suffering of the residents – of which many were seriously ill due to it being a nursing home – and came to realise that real attention, care and kindness could transform the hearts of those in your care. Importantly, such qualities should be held in the highest regard and implemented no matter the working environment.
Since August of 2020 I have also been registered and have worked as a freelance editor/proof-reader on the website peopleperhour. The work I have done using this website includes writing and editing the product descriptions of electric scooters for a start-up website. Whilst this sounds somewhat trivial, it was not an easy job to procure and in fact required much professional dialogue with a demanding buyer. The actual work that this job had entailed also required much attention to detail and a keen eye for deciphering what my target audience was and how I was going to attract buyers. Not to mention, I was effectively in charge of establishing the entire character and ‘look’ of the buyer’s website.
2016 – 2017: Member of the Combined Cadet Forces - Participated in various residential training activities and was very proud to be given the opportunity to fly with the RAF regiment.
World Challenge expedition to Iceland. The success of the expedition demonstrated my ability to not only work well as part of a team, but also as a strong and dependable team leader.
