I first try to get to know the student so I know what they struggle with and how they may learn best, this helps me to plan how to teach them as individuals. For all students, I try to engage them in topics by giving them more practical examples of how maths and science are useful and try to explain key concepts to them so that they can more clearly visualise/comprehend anything they feel lost on. I also try to teach lessons with lots of energy and get students to think about topics in different ways, to encourage their creativity and let them know they don't have to follow only one way of solving or thinking about things (even in maths).
Overall I wish to make lessons enjoyable and interesting so they can make the most of their education and hopefully wish to pursue their interests further.
I'm a Student at Bangor University getting my Masters degree but still want to continue tutoring. I have been tutoring for over a year now and have worked alone and as a part of a tutoring office (High Flyers Tutoring) teaching Science and Maths. I was very pleased to hear about the success of some of my first students and wanted to continue teaching while I study so I can help others and earn some money at the same time.
