High Sports – Alton/Guildford/Elmbridge – August 2012 to August 2018
Charterhouse Club – February 2017 to September 2017
Surrey Sports Park – May 2017 to September 2017
As a supervisor, my job was to man the desk, deal with all administrative issues such as bookings and answering the phone, selling retail and signing people into the climbing and bouldering walls, as well as safety testing new customers. I also assisted with managerial duties such as completing fill levels and banking. As an Instructor I ran the climbing clubs for all age groups (starting from age 4), teaching the basic safety rules and techniques. I also ran taster and private sessions for beginners and customers wishing to improve their technique. Rockbox is a new concept of climbing run by High Sports, which is all done by Automatic Belay Systems. My job was to explain the safety rules at the beginning of each session and ensure that they are followed throughout the day, put harnesses on everybody and ensure they are tightened throughout the session, clip customers in and out of climbs, come up with challenges, run parties with games, entertain and encourage children (and adults) to not only reach the top but to take the leap of faith to let go of the wall and 'float' back down to the ground. I also carried out regular maintenance checks on equipment, abiding by Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and set both bouldering and top rope climbing routes.
Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Coach
Wales Disability Cricket Team – June 2016 to July 2017
I worked closely with the athletes in the Welsh disability cricket team to improve range of motion, general fitness and wellbeing. The players have a variety of disabilities ranging from learning difficulties to amputated limbs. I design and run warm ups and cool downs which are inclusive of all players, complete fitness testing and have implemented specific training programmes for each individual. I have set realistic and progressive goals in order to maximise the effectiveness of the training programme and motivation of the players.
Trainee Scuba Dive Master
True Blue Dive - Sydney NSW - November 2012 to February 2013
My job was to assist with the general running of the Open Water Scuba Diving Course and learn everything to become a Dive Master. I would assist the instructor with lectures until I was able to do them on my own, help beginners set up their equipment, ensure the safety of the equipment and the group, take a group of my own in the ocean and teach the basic skills, help the instructor run the underwater skills and tests and ensure that nobody got lost or hurt on the practice dives
Door to Door Sales Representative
CDMG Sales - Sydney NSW - October 2012 to February 2013
Sales training sessions would take place in the morning before being given an area in which to utilise the skills learnt. Working in a team we would cover the specified area going door to door, convincing people to pledge a monthly amount to a charity for children with cerebral palsy.
Activities Coach
Koosa Kids - Liphook - October 2011 to October 2012
My job was to take the children through the activities that had been planned that day, demonstrating and instructing them through games, art projects and sports. I made sure that the children were eating and drinking properly, took them to the toilet at regular intervals, dealt with any discrepancies including discipline, arguments and any other issues that may arise. I was also usually responsible for an assistant coach who was there to help me when I had larger groups. During the time I was working there, the centre at Liphook received an outstanding grade from Ofsted for our provision and care.

GROUPS
Winchester University Climbing Society:
I founded the Winchester University Climbing Society in my first week at university and was chair throughout my time there. I coordinated the executive board, dealt with all paperwork such as risk assessments, organised discounts and transport for our weekly climbing trips, contacted possible sponsors, ordered kit for members and the society itself, organised weekly indoor climbing and monthly activity trips as well as our annual week long multi-activity trip to Wales. On top of this I also taught new members the skills to pass the safety test, as well as helping members with technique advice and general information about climbing and injury prevention. Throughout the final year I taught the more experienced members to lead climb and lead belay. Upon leaving the society I created policies to ensure the safe keeping and maintenance of all equipment and wrote guidelines on how to run the society, which will be passed onto the next executive board.
RESEARCH
MSc Biomedical Engineering Research Project:
I earned a distinction in my MSc research project module for completing a study on the gamification of exercise for Fibromyalgia using virtual reality. For this module I taught myself to code in C# and developed my first ever game using Unity 3D with the HTC Vive. The aims of my study were; to create an entertaining virtual reality game which induced moderate exercise, test the game with 8 participants and determine using an anonymous questionnaire, whether this and similar games would be effective at increasing motivation to exercise.
BSc(Hons) Sport and Exercise Science Dissertation:
I completed a systematic review of the biomechanical factors of injury within rock climbing. This included analysis of the various acute injuries and chronic conditions which may result from climbing as well as an analysis of injury records obtained from the Association of British Climbing Walls for 2013-2016.
