I base my classes on student needs and try to use the expeditionary learning method to help understand some difficult aspects.
I believe working on questions is really important for understanding the science, and have my own techniques for remembering harder content.
I was involved in an Aberdeen Council scheme "Science Buddy" - helping in S1 science classes by supporting kids with lower cognitive abilities. I became a House Captain and a Senior Prefect also was elected as Secretary in S5 and President in S6 of the Charities Committee, took part in the Young Enterprise Scheme where I was selected as Managing Director. My commitment, dedication, and work ethic have been recognized by my achievement of a number of awards including Saltire Awards 200 hours Certificate, Jasmine Charity Challenge Student of the Year Award, Lord Provost’s Cup For Overall Academic Attainment awarded for the highest academic results in the year group,The William Walker Transport Award for Special Achievement, Diplomas of Excellence and Academic Achievement Awards in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computing.
I have successfully passed Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computing and Maths at both National 5 and Higher level. I have study resources and books available to support the studies.
Now I am a second-year student at the University of Aberdeen and I continue working hard and being involved. I am studying Biomedical Science, majoring in Anatomy.
I am a very well-rounded individual with lots of interests and hobbies to balance my life. In my free time, I draw, play field hockey and for the past two years, I have been a part of university competitive cheerleading team representing the university at the national and regional competitions as dancing been a hobby of mine for over 11 years. I have a previous experience of running dance classes for kids aged 3-10. This year I undertook a role of Team Captain, which involved running the training sessions, assisting coaches, getting everyone ready for competition, being a first aider and the first point of contact for the team regarding club or personal matters. This position of responsibility allowed me to develop my leadership and team working skills, improve my time management and improve my communication skills.
I am a highly self-motivated, positive and hardworking individual, who always strives to achieve the highest standard possible, at any given task. I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem-solving, the ability to communicate comfortably with a wide range of people and a drive to see things through to completion. I am eager to learn, very keen to expand skills and knowledge and prepared to work in a variety of roles as required.
