The Tutors Association

News hit us in May that the Centre for Market Reform of Education had come up with proposals for the introduction of The Tutors Association. Its focus would be to improve industry standards and provide guidance for those procuring tutoring services.

The Tutors Association has started its industry-wide consultation. It’s looking to gain input on its proposals for the constitution of an association, its remit, membership requirements, codes of professional conduct and proposed member benefits.

We blogged about our concerns in ‘Who will really benefit from a new national association for private tutors’. You can also view a lively debate about the proposals at LinkedIn.

We would encourage all of our tutors to take the time to complete the questions in the consultation.

We are also pleased to support The Tutor Pages independent survey of tutor opinions. Their Founder Henry Fagg will use this information to provide additional input into the consultation process. You can also rely on Henry and us at Superprof to stand up for the independent tutor in group discussions.

The consultation closes on 17th July 2013, so please ensure that you have submitted your feedback by then, if you want your voice to be heard.

We will be keeping a close eye on what develops from the consultation process. So watch this space for news as it arises.
