I personally don't believe in talent. I was never blessed with natural ability or athleticism but I am infectiously passionate and hard working. This determination and eagerness to learn has brought me to a level as a boxer and coach that many did not think I could reach. Because of my personal experience, I believe I have a unique patience with beginners, especially kids. I understand fully that people learn in different ways and at different paces. I tailor each session to the individual and will arrange my classes to maximise their potential and peak their interest without neglecting the aspects of boxing that they might not be as enthusiastic about.
I am a Digital Journalist at BBC Northern Ireland and a former Creative Writing teacher for adults. Outside of work my passion is boxing. As well as competing as an amateur boxer myself, I coach the juniors at City of Belfast Boxing Academy three times a week. I leave work every weekday at 4.30PM, walk a mile and a half to the boxing club to open up and then train the juniors before taking part in the senior class myself. On Tuesdays I also assist in taking a bootcamp that is purely for fitness.
