Bristol University Sociology graduate, with experience in tutoring, currently working as a learning support worker at a secondary school in Brighton and as a journalist.

Methodology

My teaching method is pupil based, I think it's important to plan lessons suited to the student who is receiving them, a basic start would be powerpoint with handouts. I am very experienced in working with both primary, secondary and further education (college) level students. I have excellent subject knowledge in both Sociology and English.

Experience

I have a degree in Sociology from the University of Bristol. One of the research reports that I did is being considered for publication by the university. Whilst at university I did a lot of volunteering, including tutoring two girls for two hours a week. I currently working as a learning support worker in a secondary school in Brighton and as a journalist for a local paper.

The most valuable academic support that I am able to give is with English, (ranging from working with a year 7 who is currently illiterate, to GCSE retake support).

I currently work in the special educational needs department at BACA. My role ranges from one to one support with pupils who have EHC plans (Education, Health and Care), to general classroom assistance in 'nurture groups’ and also includes break time supervision, holding groups for extra learning activities, classroom support tables and daily reading groups. I work with a range of students aged between 11 and 19, at BIMM (the college attached to the school) I work predominantly with two students who have physical impairments, and at BACA I work with many children who have a range of complex social, emotional and behavioral needs.
