My teaching method is pupil based, I think it's important to plan lessons suited to the student who is receiving them, a basic start would be powerpoint with handouts. I am very experienced in working with both primary, secondary and further education (college) level students. I have excellent subject knowledge in both Sociology and English.
I have a degree in Sociology from the University of Bristol. One of the research reports that I did is being considered for publication by the university. Whilst at university I did a lot of volunteering, including tutoring two girls for two hours a week. I currently working as a learning support worker in a secondary school in Brighton and as a journalist for a local paper.

My role is varied but is predominantly based on writing articles about events, music, news, culture and people in Brighton.I have autonomy over the articles I write, I conduct my own interviews, chose subjects and manage social media and emails. I cover 4 set features a week, artist of the week, gigs of the week, humans of Brighton and a big interview. I write 4 articles each day that I am in.
Learning Support Assistant
I am currently an LSA at BACA. My role ranges from 1-1 support (Autists; ADHD, Dyslexia; physical impairments; social, emotional and behavioural difficulties) support tables, general classroom assistance in 2 nurture groups, out of lesson enrichment (holding Lexia sessions), 1-1 tutoring, and general support in the SEN department. The most valuable academic support that I am able to give is with English, (ranging from working with a year 7 who is currently illiterate, to GCSE retake support).
I currently work in the special educational needs department at BACA. My role ranges from one to one support with pupils who have EHC plans (Education, Health and Care), to general classroom assistance in 'nurture groups’ and also includes break time supervision, holding groups for extra learning activities, classroom support tables and daily reading groups. I work with a range of students aged between 11 and 19, at BIMM (the college attached to the school) I work predominantly with two students who have physical impairments, and at BACA I work with many children who have a range of complex social, emotional and behavioral needs.

Wider World is an organisation that works with children (aged 8-11) whose families struggle to access out-of-school enrichment activities and takes these children on educational trips throughout term time. This role involves the usual responsibilities of childcare alongside a very important mentoring aspect to help with social and emotional skills. The programme tracks children's progress in confidence, empathy etc and is really valuable. I go back to Bristol in the holidays to help lead groups.
Graduate Work Placement
40 hour teaching work placement programme in South Gloucestershire and Stroud College in Bristol. Holistic experience of further education ranging from involvement in functional skills and a-level classrooms to office work, conversations with lecturers and behaviour management classes. Helped with a few 'Your Time' lessons for children who cannot partake in mainstream education. I was offered a job when I obtain QTS.
