I am a newly qualified ESOL teacher who is passionate about opening up students to the English language and culture.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English as a Foreign Language, including General English, Business English, English for Academic Purposes, preparation for IELTS and Cambridge exams. I also teach beginners and conversation Spanish.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Trinity CertTESOL qualification from St Giles London Central (Oct 2010), as well as 2 TEFL qualifications. I also attended a British Council graduates' training day for EFL teachers in September 2010. I have an MA (Hons) in Geography with Spanish.
- How much do you charge?
Before beginning the tuition course, I offer a free consultation lesson where we will establish your language needs, weaknesses and strengths and discuss what you would like to learn in the lessons that follow. All of my lessons are £20 per hour for individual lessons. Group tuition can be arranged at a cheaper price of £15 per person. There are no extra fees for travel, as I am unable to offer lessons in my own home.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at students' homes only; I am currently based in Turnpike Lane, in North-East London. I am available to teach in North and Central London, particularly areas close to Turnpike Lane, Wood Green, Manor House, Finsbury Park, Stoke Newington, etc.
- When are you available?
I am currently available all evenings except Fridays; as well as Tuesday and Thursday during the day, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and weekends. This will change from June, when I will only be available in the evenings and weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach ages 10 and above, from beginners to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for IELTS and Cambridge exams.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Currently, I am working at an English language school in London, giving conversational English classes to adults and organising the social activities for the students. Last year I worked in Chile as an English Language Assistant for university students studying to become English teachers, while also working as a private EFL tutor for children (12 years old) and a Business English tutor for adults. Before that, I spent my summers in Spain and Scotland as an English teacher at summer camps for young people (10-18 years old).
