My teaching method is straightforward. As a student myself, I have found that schools and many tutors encourage their pupils to blindly regurgitate information in exams, which often results in poor grades simply because the time has not been taken to ensure the students understand the fundamental principles of Maths and Physics behind their work. Therefore I begin immediately by systematically identifying gaps in a student's knowledge or understanding without wasting time on their areas of strength.
Exam technique is also something that is often ruthlessly mis-sold by tutors. While it can have a huge impact on many exams, especially the PAT and ENGAA, it is a set of skills that can be taught comfortably in very few lessons in almost all cases. It is something that I work on with all students, as often very capable students are held back by their ability to successfully navigate exams.
I am also able to make concise and effective notes for my students which can help clarify areas that we have worked and used later for revision.
My primary goal is to ensure students achieve their academic goals and to make that process as fun and rewarding as possible.
I am currently an undergraduate engineer at Cambridge University. Having taken Maths (A*), Further Maths (A*), Physics (D1) at Westminster School, I am very well placed to prepare students for university admissions tests and interviews, especially the PAT and ENGAA exams, having taken them myself.
As a student who has also received personal tuition I am very aware of which teaching techniques are most effective, and the areas that students often struggle with.
London transport is on the whole very cheap and effective, but if you would like me to travel to your house, and it is inaccessible via public transport then I may have to charge a travel fee.
