As a tutor, it is important to me that my students feel their individual needs are recognised. I base my teaching plans on my students' curriculum, but invite input from students on where they require extra support. I adapt sessions as we go along, in response to my own assessment of students' strengths and difficulties.
My goal is always to develop students into enthusiastic, confident and independent learners in English, whether they already enjoy the subject or find it difficult.
I am currently a Psychology of Education Master's student at the University of Bristol, having graduated with a 1st in English at Cambridge in 2015. In between degrees I worked as a teaching assistant, working as both a mainstream and SEN learning support.
I began tutoring this year, and have worked with four tutees at both A Level and GCSE. I have received consistently strong feedback, and tutees have developed in their confidence and understanding within a short space of time.
Fiona is a dedicated and patient teacher, who always goes the extra mile to help her students and ensure they succeed. I have seen her teach countless students through her volunteering work with young people at university, and have always been so impressed with her ability to inspire them with her creative lessons and ability to clearly explain complex subjects. I whole-heartedly recommend her!
Fiona is the complete tutor package: she’s whip-smart, patient, compassionate and the kind of person you want to listen to. Out of all the tutors I’ve had in the past, she’s the one who has stood out the most. Hire her! You and your marks won’t regret it.
I have known Fiona for a number of years and she is one of the most patient people I have ever met. She has an amazing ability to explain complicated stuff in a simple way. Would highly recommend her as a tutor for anything!
