My teaching method is mostly based around the Russian violin and viola early 20th century school - I'm also flexible and willing to work from the student's preferred base techique. I'm happy to take up anyone who on any level all the way down to starters. I'm also happy to take on any adult starters.
As of teaching material, I prefer to focus more or repertoire (usually Suzuki for starters up to around Grade 4) and only use focused etdues (Kayser, Kreutzer, and Mazas as a general base) as required. I'm happy to work with the students' preferred books.
I like to start by setting up long term goals - as in playing a given concerto or auditioning for a given orchestra for instance. I'm also happy to coach chamber music groups and short term preparation for grade exams.
I'm a violist from Mexico running on my second decade of professional experience as an orchestral musician and teaching violin and viola. I play regularly with many of Sheffield's orchestras. I'm currently principal viola for the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra, and violist with the Weston String Quartet. I've played with numerous semi-professional and professional orchestras at Mexico City and its surroundinsg, including as co-principal viola for the Texcoco Philharmonic Orchestra. I studied viola with Maestro Javier Montiel from the Latinamerican String Quartet at the Ollin Yoliztli Music School in Mexico City. I also completed a certificate on didactic techniques for violin and viola from the Northwestern University (USA), and one on rehearsing music ensembles from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA).
