About Carla
I am an enthusiastic and fully involved teacher who believes learning a second language is about confidence and trust. This goes both ways, confidence and trust in yourself, " I can do it!", and in your tutor; "she can help me". I have 30 uninterrupted years of University education in culture, politics, and arts. I have taught Spanish at a formal and informal level, to youth and adults. I lived half of my life in New Zealand and understand your culture. This is why my classes are conversations exploring your interests, and finding links to linguistic expressions and uses that would help you to embody language. This is, to become proficient and confident, as well as, self-reflective in order to keep learning on your own. Let's talk, learning a second language is the pathway to a whole new universe!

Classes focus on your interests and needs. You could be a student following a curriculum with a deadline, or someone about to travel to a Spanish-speaking country and have a due date for that, then our classes can be intensive. In contrast, you may need to refresh your Spanish skills or learn it from zero, in that case, it would be best to go slowly. Whatever your destination may be, I can help you to get there.

As this is a personalized teaching service I will develop a plan just to suit your needs. We'll first have a 20-minute courtesy conversation and if you decide to take my classes, I require your commitment to a package of 5 lessons. We can reschedule within a minimum of 1 day's notice, after that missing classes are not refundable.
