In teaching music, my main focus is making practice both fun and productive.
I have worked with children of vastly different ages and abilities. From teaching 'Twinkle Twinkle' to a girl aged 5 on the piano, to perfecting grade 7 exam pieces with a secondary school cellist, I have a breadth of experience. Whilst at University I also tutored a fellow student for her conducting exam, having gained a First in my own. Last year I ran weekly choirs for 4-6 and 6-8 year olds at Westminster Cathedral Choir School.
In my pursuit of Music Therapy I have recognised a need for music to be enjoyed - it is the process of music-making, rather than the end-product, that should be savored.
I achieved Grade 8 distinction in both cello and piano whilst at school, and I was a cello section leader in the Durham University Orchestral Society Chamber Orchestra. I also conducted the Hild Bede Chapel Choir whilst at Durham. I am currently studying for a Music Therapy MA at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, taking lessons in both cello and piano.
Perfect! Really enthusiastic, great teacher for my 8 year old.
