"With over 25 years of experience performing and auditioning with the cello, and over 10 years of teaching experience both privately and in institutions, Yelian divides his time between both performing and teaching. Yelian is one half of the chamber duo "Y-Squared" and enjoys an international career that`s spanned Europe, Australasia and Africa performing at numerous world-class venues.
He is the recipient of multiple prizes with his Pianist Yasmin Rowe, including the inaugural 2014 Australian Cello Awards Competition Grand Prize as well as the Audience Prize, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Concerto Prize, Winner of the Royal Over-Seas League Competition String Finals, Kirckman Concert Society Award and is a 2014 London City Music Foundation Artist.
Yelian was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 at an exclusive reception for outstanding Australians and again in 2013 for a private performance with the Queen and her Commonwealth guests at the Buckingham Palace."

- What kind of experience do you have?
I am not somebody you should contact if you don`t want to aim for personal success on the cello.
I, like you, want to spend my time well - which is why I`m enthusiastic about how I am able to help you.
This means I want to be flexible in my approach with students.
While there`s no substitute for intelligent, diligent work and a regular schedule with your teacher, learning the cello is as much dependant on the student as it is on the balance of seeking opportunities to perform, setting goals, gaining feedback and self-reflection.
Whether you are preparing for exams, A-Levels, University and College auditions, competitions and masterclasses or just want a pair of ears to keep you in a motivated condition for your next performance, I can help you give meaning and direction to your progress.
If you believe I`m describing you, and whether you want regular lessons or just when you need it, leave me a message via the contact page.
