I like to create a space in which it is okay to make mistakes! This is extremely important for making a student comfortable. For younger learners, who perhaps do not do languages at school, I will use games, songs and other activities in order to keep interest high.
I previously tutored a student for two years in GCSE French and he came away with an A*. We worked a lot on increasing fluency of conversation, improving general confidence, and learning grammar in a way that made more sense to him. The real advantage of tutoring is that I can find the approach that best suits the student.
I am a Modern Foreign Languages graduate with a CELTA qualification (teaching English as a Foreign Language). I am currently completing a diploma in Montessori Pedagogy which is enabling me to pursue my passion for education.
I have always had a love of languages and I look forward to being able to pass this onto others, as I know language learning can be seen as a particularly difficult subject.
I am happy to teach any age, though I have a lot of experience with children from 3-16 as I have worked as a nanny, tutor, and manager at a children's camp for the past 6 years.

Sophie was a fantastic part of my team when she worked for Super Camps, Sophie is very reliable and particularly passionate about focussing on the individual needs of children and young people in her care to ensure that they are able to reach their full potential whilst having a positive experience. I have no doubt that Sophie is a well prepared tutor who is able to make learning both fun, inclusive and informative.
Sophie worked as a Camp Manager for me at Super Camps. She always had such an amazing relationship with all of the children within her care. Made sure to ensure the needs of all the children were exceeded and would go above and beyond to make sure the children were well looked after, enjoyed their time and developed during their time. Couldn’t recommend Sophie enough!
