About the lesson

Learn Spanish in a matter of weeks, not years.

Whether you need Spanish for work, for travelling or just for your own pleasure thanks to my lessons you will be able to use the language in real settings without fear.

I base my classes on a combination of formal and informal teaching. I prioritize expression and fluidity over canonical knowledge of the language. Most of all, I want to give the student the tools to improve according to their own rhythm, needs and capacities. I personalize the topic to my student's needs.

If interested I also offer a 15 weeks course to help you master the basics of Spanish and give you a strong base onto which you will be able to build your skills as a Spanish speaker.

In 15 weeks, class schedule you'll learn:

- To build a solid foundation of Spanish.
- To have practical usage of basic Spanish in a matter of weeks.
- To produce and speak thousands of perfectly constructed phrases.
- useful phrases you can use in everyday situations.
- To put basic sentences together.

Requirements:

-No previous knowledge of Spanish is required. The course is designed for complete beginners or those with very limited knowledge.
-Excitement to learn the basics of Spanish.

Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I must admit that thanks to a teacher today I am able to speak Spanish as a native. I started my journey with Spanish classes at the age of 20 and I met an incredible teacher who gave me the right tips, explain the basics clearly and transmitted her passion. Thanks to her approach and joy to teach Spanish I decided to put all myself into it. And here I am today ready to share the same passion and help others to speak Spanish!

  • 02

Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Absolutely Pedro Almodóvar! He is the figure that I consider as the emblematic representative of Spanish culture. He has produced great films such as 'Volver', ‘Los abrazos rotos’ o ‘La mala educación’ which capture perfectly the Hispanic culture including popular music, refranes (say-ings) and much more. For this reason, I always find space for him in my lesson in order to give my students a complete overview of the language and the society and to stretch their learning a little bit further.

  • 03

Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

In Spanish there are a lot of sayings (refranes) that I adore and use a lot. One of them is “Al mal tiempo Buena cara” that can be translated as “what can’t be cured must be endured”. An exhortation to be patient when something is going in a difficult direction and a recall to hope and optimism. I would say a very useful piece of advice!

  • 04

Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Spanish is much more than just being able to order food when I am abroad. It is about understanding a different culture and world perception. It is to be able to read a book in its native language, to watch a movie, to listen to a song and understand the meaning. It is to go deeper and relate and connect with others without limits and without restraining any aspect of my real self.

  • 05

What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

I think Spanish is one of the easier languages to learn. It has a near identical alphabet and relatively easy phonetic. However, I think irregular verbs can take a while to be mastered especially for beginner. Therefore, during the process of teaching them I always say that the most important thing is regular practice, examples and a lot of patience. After that, you will be an expert sooner than you think.

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

During my second year at the Instituto Cervantes, we spent every single lesson studying the subjuntivo (one of the three moods in Spanish). I admit it was tough! Most of the time I wanted to give up, but I never did it because I wanted to achieve the dream to speak as a native. Also, I was supported by an incredible teacher. Thanks, the combination of an amazing and professional support and my determination (and a lot of practice) I successfully passed the exam at the end of the year and continued my journey!

  • 07

How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Although my Spanish was already good before I travelled to Spain, I decided to visit different parts of the country to understand better the differences between the accents. After travelling I got used to Spanish colloquialisms and I learnt so much more both in terms of the culture and language differences.

What makes you a Superprof in language?

In my opinion a good learning environment is one that is interesting, creative, warm, friendly and open to the unknown. I do my best to provide all my students with tailored classes that build their confidence while also capturing their interests. Everyone is different, and so it is no surprise that we all learn differently! And this is the reason why every time I introduce a new topic in a tailored way. I am sure that thanks to this approach I can help everybody to learn Spanish. Therefore, I look forward to helping you to fulfil your goal of speaking Spanish!
