I have recently moved to Glasgow after living and working abroad in the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra, Chile, where I held the position of Sub-Principal Viola in the orchestra. I am keen to expand my database of private pupils.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the violin and the viola. I also incorporate musicianship and theory into these lessons, but these can also be taught separately. Help with Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher Music is also available upon request.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2007 I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, with a Bachelor of Music with Honours. I also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Performance from the RNCM in June 2008. During my studies I was generously supported by a number of Scholarships.
As a performer I work a lot in and around the UK with many of the top orchestras, including the Royal National Scottish Orchestra, with whom I am regularly employed on a freelance basis. My experience as a performer really enhances my ability to bring the passion found in live concerts to my lessons, ensuring all of my students get the very most out of each and every lesson.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £25 for an hour lesson on either violin or viola. A half hour lesson will cost £15.
If you are living within Glasgow, I won't normally add on any extra travel expenses. However, If you are slightly further out, then I may have to re-calculate the cost with you accordingly.
- Where do you teach?
I usually teach from home, however, I am willing to travel to a pupils home in and around Glasgow, dependant on the location.
- When are you available?
I am free to teach all day on Monday and Tuesday and I have a few spaces on a Saturday morning. However, if you are unavailable for any other these time, please still get in touch, and I will try to arrange a time that would suit us all.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students of all ages and abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I would prepare pupils for taking the Associated Board (ABRSM) practical exams, if this is what they want to pursue.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
The beginning of a new school year is a fantastic time to start learning the violin, as I am planning on organising a Christmas concert featuring all the students I teach. I will encourage all pupils, even the complete beginners to participate in this concert, and would love them to invite friends and family to be part of the audience.
If you have any questions at all about my teaching style, availability or just to ask any questions you may have about learning the violin, please send me a message.
