I am an experienced, qualified teacher of Science and Maths. My students testify to my approachable nature and ability to help improve their understanding, while enjoying lessons.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach AS and A2 Chemistry, AS and A2 Maths, GCSE Science subjects and GCSE Maths.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a degree from the University of Cambridge where I studied 'Natural Sciences' - my main subject was Chemistry, but I also studied Maths, Physics and Geology. My teaching qualification is a 'Post Graduate Certificate in Education' for teaching Sciences (11-16) and Chemistry (16-19), which I did at the University of Nottingham.
- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour - this includes my travel costs if you live up to 10 miles away from North Walsham; if I travel further to get to you I seek to negotiate a reasonable charge to cover costs. Tuition in a small group, eg as a pair or in a group of three, can work very well - this is charged at the same rate, but obviously you can share this between you.
- Where do you teach?
As of March 2011... I am now able to travel to you - both within a 10 mile radius of North Walsham (eg Aylsham, Stalham, Hoveton, Wroxham, Mundesley, Bacton, Happisburgh) and further if not too difficult; I have previously tutored students in the North Norwich area (Eg Sprowston, Salhouse, Spixworth); north of North Walsham (areas including Cromer, Trunch, Gimingham, Overstrand, Mundesley) and Aylsham and surrounding areas.
- When are you available?
Weekdays late afternoon / early evening.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I tutor both school age and adult students; GCSE Science / Maths and A-level Chemistry / Maths. Chemistry is my original subject specialism, but I have also taught Maths extensively; at A-level I have experience of teaching the core modules ('pure' maths) and mechanics; I have also a little experience of S1
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for 15 years; I have taught at Paston Sixth Form College since 2007, where I currently work part-time teaching Chemistry. I have taught on a variety of courses over the past five years there, including A-level Chemistry, A-level Maths, GCSE Science and GCSE Maths.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently tutoring a couple of students in Year 13 - one to help with Maths Core 3, 4 and Mechanics1, the other with A2 Chemistry and A2 Maths; I am also helping others with GCSE Science and Maths.
