Hi, I'm Chris and I am a fully qualified teacher of Physics with great passion and enthusiasm for the subject. I always endeavour to relate topics to current events and give them real life context to make it more engaging and memorable for students.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Biology, Chemistry and Maths up to GCSE, Physics and Applied Science up to A-level. I have also had requests for less common courses such as Meteorology which can be discussed on a unique basis.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I gained a 2:1 Hons degree from Lancaster University in Physics in 2011 and received my PGCE in 2012 from the University of Cumbria, graded 'Outstanding'.
- How much do you charge?
My rate is £30 per hour for both KS3 and GCSE students and £35 for A-level (This is due to the greater level of preparation needed as each individual exam board have questions with definitive answers; slight variants do not award marks).
- Where do you teach?
I teach from home which is based in Prestwich but also travel to students' homes within 4 miles such as Middleton, Radcliffe and Pendlebury. I can cover outside this area for a small cost to cover travel.
- When are you available?
I am available weekdays and occasionally at weekends. I will reserve sessions during the term and half term breaks but there is flexibility when arranging these lessons.
Exam run-up Revision sessions.
During Easter and May half term breaks I am offering sessions between 8am - 8pm. These sessions are useful for extra help on exam technique, revision technique/strategies, help pushing towards A/A* and refining baseline knowledge. Send me a message for more information, the dates these sessions are running for are;
I am currently taking reservations for the 2018/2019 academic year
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
From my time in education I have taught from ages 11 to 18 but since tutoring I have also had sessions with adult learners.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE and A-levels.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a classroom teacher for four years in a school rated by OFSTED as being 'good with outstanding features'. Within that time I have spent four years teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and GCSE and also Physics and Applied Science at A-level. From my most recent Physics class, all students achieved their target and half achieved a grade above their target. I am currently working as an A-level Physics technician at an independent school in Bolton.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS which can be viewed upon request.
