My approach encorporates a lot of general musicianship and work away from the violin such as rhythm games/excerises, singing and the use of Kodaly Solfage system. These skills are fundamental building blocks and are crucial to being able to play in tune and in time with others!
I am warm and fun loving and will always seek to make my lessons as engaging as possible, matching the pacing and content to your specific needs and interests.
I am violinist and teacher from London. I grew up playing Classical music until I was about 18 where I discovered the world of non-classical music making. I specialise in Klezmer, an Eastern-European Jewish folk music tradition as well as having some knowledge of the Irish fiddle style.
From my Classical training I have gained a solid technique whilst in my folk playing, I have developed good aural skills and general musicianship. Both of these approaches and techniques inform the way I teach.
I have been teaching for 8 years and currently work for Haringey and Newham Music services delivering a mix of small and large group violin teaching as well as Participatory music sessions for students with Special Needs.
I am also experienced in Alexander Technique, and whilst am not a qualified teacher, can incorporate ways in which to play and practise the violin safely and with good body awareness.
I welcome all ages, abilities and interests and will tailor my lessons accordingly!

Perfect! Anna is an excellent violin teacher. She very quickly identified my needs and began drafting a training plan suitable to my particular strengths and weaknesses, tailored to my learning preferences. In our first lesson, we began practising learning by ear and worked on rhythm before we started on the actual violin. It was a really well balanced lesson, which we both enjoyed until we lost track of time! I will be continuing classes with Anna and highly recommend her.
