I am experienced in teaching all levels of ability. Simple vocal exercises, with the emphasis on breath function, begin all lessons. I choose repertoire consistent with the ability of the student, which I play in several keys to match the overall range of the pupil. I coach in several languages and have a basic counselling degree which is important in the psychological processes which take place in the Singing lesson. I always find watching the increased confidence and self-revelation of the students, usually impacting on all other areas of their lives, very gratifying. I also prepare students for
ABRSM and Trinity College Grade Exams in Singing and Piano.
I have been teaching for many years, both one to one and in groups. I formed my own private group, Octave, 10 years ago, and have organised many public concerts with them involved where I also accompanied them on piano. The repertoire I use is very varied. I am also an experienced performer in concerts, functions and operatic roles.
