My name is Claudia Goddard; I am twenty years old and I am in the second year of my BA (Hons) Classics course at the University of Bristol. I live in Bristol during term time and would like to get a part-time job while I am in the city.
I have a wide variety of work experience; I started in the local pub when I was fifteen and then moved to a pharmacy and I have also worked for Nationwide Building Society in their Swindon call-centre as well as being part of the University Officer Training Corps (UOTC).
I work in a busy pharmacy (30,000+ patients) whenever I am home in Swindon during the holidays. Under the supervision of the pharmacists I prepare prescriptions (inc methadone), checking medication, answering queries in person or on the phone from customers or medical staff, serve across the counter and ensuring accurate records are kept at all times both written and on computer. I have also worked in the pharmacy’s partner company making up medication in bulk for use in care-homes etc.
My other role working in one of Nationwide Building Society’s customer contact centres has also further developed my excellent customer facing skills both in person and over the phone with both this and the pharmacy roles requiring utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times. I fulfilled both positions requirements for a high degree of trust and their demand for absolute accuracy and attention to detail.
I am a member of the UOTC because my long-term aim is to be an officer in the British Army. In the UOTC I have learned command and control tasks and developed my skills to lead and influence people
I am motivated, punctual, friendly, helpful and very reliable (no unauthorised absences from my work ever). I am fit and bright – I have five ‘A’ Levels and thirteen GCSE’s and would welcome an opportunity to present myself and discuss any role you may have available.

Work Experience

February 2015 – present: Home Ground Pharmacy (Retail), Thames Avenue, Swindon, SN25 1QQ (weekends, up to 40hrs/pw during holidays)
Since February 2015 I have been working part-time in a very busy pharmacy in Swindon where I have developed my knowledge of medication and improved my customer-facing skills. This is a highly trusted role requiring a high degree of responsibility and attention to detail, especially where drugs like methadone are concerned. I make up medication and prescriptions for checking by the pharmacist, answer queries in branch or on phone from customers or medical professionals, resolving any queries over prescriptions or talking to surgeries on customers, sell over the counter items to patients as fits their symptoms and checked with pharmacist and ensure all records are kept up to date and accurate.

September 2017 – Present; University of Bristol Officer Training Corps (UOTC)
As a UOTC recruit I undertake British Army reserve officer training which has developed my ability to lead others and increase my self-confidence. As well as conducting numerous army field exercises in Wales, Surrey and Norfolk including live-firing, my UOTC team won the Queens Challenge Cup competing against other university OTC units, I have marshalled at the 10 Tors competition on Dartmoor and I undertook a battlefield study in Crete.

January 2017 – August 2017: Nationwide Building Society, Pegasus House, Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way, Swindon, SN5 6NX (25hrs/pw)
Working part-time in on of Nationwide’s customer contact centres I answered calls from customers, checked balances, stop & replace lost/stolen cards, managed overdrafts and Visa disputes, and handled any complaints as necessary. I was also trusted with doing call-backs to customers where required. This role at Nationwide further enhanced my customer-service skills.

July 2015 – September 2015: Home Ground Care Pharmacy (Commercial), Unit 75, BSS House, Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, Swindon SN2 2PJ
This was a summer job where again I made up medication prescription packages which were then delivered to care homes throughout Wiltshire and the surrounding area. It was quite a delicate job as every aspect of each type of medication had to be checked; whether it is the right strength, matching the dosage on the prescription and even the colour of the tablet so the patient knew what they were looking for. It allowed me to develop my knowledge of the medications I was using and at the same time enabled me to develop a keen eye when spotting each detail and checking that everything was perfect. The branch pharmacist gave me the option to return to this role during successive college holidays.

Both of the jobs at Home Ground (retail & commercial) come with an extremely high level of responsibility and necessitate an equally high and constant level of attention to detail – this illustrates the significant amount of trust the pharmacy show in me to prepare these individual medication packages for patients.

February 2014 - June 2015: Waitress & kitchen staff, ‘Rat Trap’ pub, Highworth Road, Swindon, SN3 4QS (weekends)
My main duties included general waitress and customer service for the pubs restaurant and bar, preparing food such as salads, starters and desserts, washing up and clearing away used plates and putting away kitchen equipment and dealing with any customer complaints or issues. I also helped with training new members joining the pub’s staff. This was my first job and gave me added confidence and responsibility in dealing with the public and a sense of independence coming from earning my own money. .


Interests & Hobbies

I take a keen interest in music and the latest fashions, love acting, drama and outdoor activities such as running and keeping fit. I also like studying outside my degree course curriculum, particularly Greek and Latin.
