Cleo - Forest Hill - Music


There is no 'one size fits all' approach to teaching. Each and every student learns in a different way at a different pace. I teach in a way that make lessons fun, engaging, builds self-confidence levels and inspire the students to learn and discover.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Trumpet, Euphonium, Percussion, Piano, GCSE and A-Level Music tutoring, Music Technology, Composition, Musicianship and Music Theory.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I hold a BMus Bachelor of Music Degree with a 2:1 Honours, I also hold Grade 8 ABRSM and Trinity boards in Trumpet, Piano and Music Theory.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £30 per hour for individual lessons at your home (£5 additional charge for travel dependent on distance) or at my home in SE23.
Concessions are available for children from low income families / families on income support; please do not hesitate to contact me regarding this.
£25 per hour for a two hour lessons, two children in the same home or two back to back hour lessons of different content i.e. Trumpet & Composition.
£40 per hour for group workshop (additional charge for hire of instruments such as Bateria for Samba drumming).

- Where do you teach?

I teach at students' homes in the South East London area, predominantly: Forest Hill, Catford, New Cross, Peckham, Camberwell, Deptford, Greenwich, Lewisham, Maze Hill, East Dulwich, Brixton.

I am happy to travel to other Greater London boroughs, Central London and North and East London dependent on circumstance.

I also teach from my home which is situated a five minute walk from Honour Oak Park Station (SE23).

- When are you available?

I am available Monday - Friday daytime hours for workshops and teaching in schools.
I am available after school and early evening hours Monday - Friday for individual lessons in students homes, I am also available weekend daytimes for these.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I have experience teaching from the age of 3/4 years old all the way through to adult beginner and beyond.
I teach Trumpet and Piano from complete beginner to grade 8 standard.
I teach Musicianship and Percussion from complete beginner to professional level.
I tutor GCSE and A-Level Music syllabus', I can also support students through undergraduate degree level studies.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

With regards to online tutoring, I can support students with composition and GCSE and A- Level studies.


- What kind of experience do you have?

I have a wealth of experience in teaching children and young people from the age of four to eighteen in individual lessons, group lessons and workshop settings across Central and Greater London boroughs. I have taught individual and group peripatetic lessons in Trumpet, Euphonium, Piano and Percussion. I have worked with borough music services such as Southwark and taught as a visiting music teaching in Primary Schools across North, East and South East London. I also have experience of teaching in community centres, homeless hostels, youth centres and in students' homes.

I have worked with children and young people from under-represented backgrounds, children and young people with challenging behaviour, additional needs students (particularly autistic students) and children and young people with physical and mental illness in Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

I have also led specialist workshops in schools and communities in New Orleans Style Brass Bands, samba, soca, salsa, afrobeat and traditional West African music such as Yoruba music and have taught group Musicianship classes in rhythm and harmony through use of the Kodaly method. I have also been responsible for the running and teaching of extra curricular group ensembles such as orchestras, brass bands and choirs.

I am also a freelance sound engineer for metropolis studios and have experience professionally and academically supporting students with Music Technology, live and studio based engineering, mixing and mastering.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I hold multiple DBS certificates and am signed up to the DBS online update service.
